I basically just wanted to prove to myself that making dubstep was easy. But I did end up having fun making it.

I think what dubstep producers tend to do is to sample 6 or 7 different uber-bass sounds and then play them out with an MPC-like controller (or on an MPC itself). The idea, I assume, is to make sudden dramatic tone changes and make it sound like the bass is having a seizure - it's a bit harder to do that just by using automation.
