^ I LOVE the harmonies on the chorus in this one.

Here's a few that don't get much attention so far as I'm aware...

There is a ton of Eno I have never heard admittedly but I felt these ones were somewhat 'tucked away' on fairly well known albums of his.

ALSO not to be forgotten is Brian's brother Roger Eno who is also a top notch composer of 'ambience'.

^ This piece was my gateway to Roger and Brian Eno...

Indeed. Great thread, btw. Eno truly needs and deserves more attention. The man is an absolute genius.

A little off topic: On Land really amazes me more and more with each passing day. It truly amazes me how Eno managed to compose such a powerful, atmospheric tracks. Although the album is 30 years old now, it could have been recorded yesterday as far as I am asked/concerned. In my opinion On Land, along with Aphex's SAW2, deserves the title of the greatest/most important ambient (in it's truest/purest form) album ever.

If I'd heard 'On Land' back in 1984 I'd have projectile shit my pants... It was the second Eno album I bought (after Apollo) and I was stunned at how dark and foreboding it could be; even compared to an album with a concept as austere and dangerous as space travel this album was like a desolate, wild pit. There are moments when Jon Hassell's trumpet sounds like the arcane incantation of some ancient medium or the bleating of a wounded beast in the twilight of an unknown savannah...

Speaking of Jon Hassell and Eno, here is a rarity from their 1982 collab album 'Fourth World: Possible Musics'...

Great album. Pity it is so rare and hard to get nowadays (I'm talking specifically about the CD version). Also, Aphex played this track (Delta Rain Dream) in this set:

It starts around 4:00. I was so pleasantly surprised to hear it.

Holy shit at Aphex playing that one out! What an interesting sounding set!

... And yes, 'Fourth World' is very rare on CD; for whatever reason it wasn't a part of the glut of reissues that appeared around 2005. I've been trying to find a copy for a while but it isn't available anywhere on the net that I've found.

Those 'Original Masters' reissues of the classic Eno album are classy remasters btw; no clipping/brickwalling and they sound superb; just compare the original CD issue of 'Music For Films' to the remaster and you'll be stunned. One of the only remaster series that I've found where the originals are truly improved.

I don't know if these are "under-appreciated", but they are my faves...

... the end of this track (from 1:50, but even more from 2:19) is crazy amazing.

this one is amazing too...

If this wasn't eno related people would be namedropping it to gain underground cred. It's usually forgotten. It's just that... he made ambient 1, 2, and 4. Which are milestones.

YES, I always forget about this one! I still need to find a copy of Ambient 3 as well. I'm off to go Eno hunting...

Oh wow, one of my favorites from Apollo paired with one of my favorite Beksinski paintings...
