So I've been listening to a lot of old progressive house and progressive trance from the 90s, early 00s era. Lustral, Underworld, Sasha, Orbital, among others..

Was wondering if anyone had any other good recs to make in this genre? It can be produced albums, remixes, compilations, anything!

Do share! Thanks!!

Some good progressive house and trance in this era.

Global Underground is a long running series of DJ mixes which started in the mid-nineties and is still going now. I've got a few which I still play now and again.

Check out stuff from Steve Lawler, John Digweed, Danny Tenaglia, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, Sander Kleinenberg, Anthony Pappa, Sasha.

Happy hunting !

Parks & Wilson Essential Mix from 2002-Feb-24 is probably one of my favourite EMs ever, it even opens with Bola's Vertiphon track. I still remember driving home one late night and this mix played on the weekly dance music show and it just mesmerized me and as soon as I got home I had to find out who it was and download it from somewhere, I think I got it from Audiogalaxy.

Personally I am more partial to the progressive sound of psytrance, especially whatever the Swedish producers are up to and they have over the years moved on to a more clubbier and minimal technoish sound.

I lived and breathed progressive house from 2000 - 2003. Immense times travelling to Bedrock in London once a month on a thursday, and struggling to survive the train home on a friday morning to get back to lectures! John Digweed, Anthony Pappa, Danny Howells, John Lisle, early James Zabiela (his "4" mixes were immense as well as Sound in Motion on Hooj), Dave Seaman... awesome.

Will post more tonight when I get home

Check out moshic, dark progressive stuff from Israel. His "Salamat" double album is a club / chill double CD are well worth a check.

He also did a "progressive from israel" mix CD for DJ magazine year ago, most probably the best free covermount CD I ever had.

*edit*

you can stream it here

His more recent mixes seem more fluffy and polished, I preferred this older, darker, evil style of prog...

Shame the quality is so low - this was a bangin' track back in the day. Funnily enough, I've just started listening to a tonne of old trance. Importing all my old cds to the laptop. I'll post some more in a bit

That track is amazing, proper power prog! Not heard it in ages.

Nice proggy trance track that makes great use of Pachelbel's Canon......

And this is probably one of my favourite house tracks from the past few years, absolutely devastating club music when I heard Digweed drop this at Bedrock a few years back

I haven't heard anything of Sasha in at least ten years but I dig this remix from his latest compilation.

Going through new House/Techno releases on Boomkat yesterday I heard this.

Looked it up on Youtube and Sasha playing it comes up.

I think things have really improved in the last few years. I've started listening to more Boiler Room mixes lately checking out how things stand.

I doubt it will ever return to heights of the old days but the mainstream scene looks in better shape.

First time I ever heard Progressive house and Minimalist techno was this online radio station ca. 2003. For me that was interesting enough; my impoetus/basis for liking those stepping stone genres all the way through to IDM-- online was the first place I heard aphex twin and the first time I finally understood wtf that Venitian Snares Album.

Now, I'm actually rather picky with my listening habits today... I like techno, too... Not so much Hardstyle or that flippin' Candy ish. I like Booka Shade and Wolfgang Gartner... Especially their club music. Now I'm hooked on a few things "Like, Exai), and the attitude that can be found in Alternative genres... I need something new.... I just have envy for Arovane at the moment...
