David Peck - "Coal & Ice"

A highlight from my new EP "Noctilucence". I even play a little guitar on this one! Let me know what you think, I'm open to opinions.

One thing that stood out to me was the pad in the background (the "ooOOoOoOoooo" one). It doesn't really blend in with the rest of the soundscape, because you've got percussion made from everyday things (at least that's how I hear it) and then you've got the guitar. It's just a bit too synthy (also it sounds like something from the 90s) and sticks out from the crowd because the rest is organic sounding. Unless it's too late I would definitely change that pad because apart from that I like this tune.

Hey thanks for the feedback, Squee! I really appreciate honest critique of that nature. I definitely put a lot of attention on blending my organic and synthetic sounds. That pad doesn't particularly stand apart to my ears, but I'll be sure to keep that thought in mind while working on future projects. Hopefully it's not like a sore thumb or anything. Cohesiveness is definitely important.

This is really nice, I´m liking pretty much all of the sounds you´re using. i especially like that nice guitar and synth bit at 2.40, and so nice when the beat and everything comes back in!

Of course it´s just a matter of taste and opinion, but I think you´re sounds blend very nicely together ;)

Oh and I LOVE your album cover! It looks great, how did you stumble upon it?

Thanks Hermann! Glad you liked the tune. As far as the album cover, I didn't really stumble on it exactly, I made it in Photoshop with a few source images that underwent some heavy transformations.
