I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

B12 is always the first "space music" group I think of when I see any kind of "space/sci-fi + techno" thread. Speaking of, you might want to see this thread, it's more specific to IDM stuff though: http://forum.watmm.c...h-an-idm-twist/

Arguably, any drone, ambient, post-rock, etc with an ethereal vibe to it is space music. It's kind of like "world music" and "new age" as a descriptor, you'll find a lot of mediocre stuff if blindly browsing music. It's a very broad and subjective term, even with major genres like Space Rock and Kosmische Musik tied to the concept. Check out soundtracks of classic sci-fi films as well - Space Odyssey 2001, Forbidden Planet, Sunshine, Solaris (both original and Hollywood remake)

Decent list of space music "classics" on wikipedia, towards the bottom...

One of my favourite tracks ever. Probably not right for this forum, but it kicks butt so worthy of a listen nonetheless ;)
