**** Released June 8th 2012 ****

Exclusively re-mastered for this vinyl release including 6 tracks that never made it into the original film. John Carpenter not only directed Escape From New York but also composed and recorded all of its music too. This score sounds as fresh today as it did when it was first released. Laden with brooding electronic pulses, flashes of Krautrock and healthy dose of nu disco ensures that this soundtrack sounds as happy on the dance floor as it is in your headphones. Exclusive cover art by Jay Shaw (aka Iron Jaiden). Sleeve Notes from Alan Howarth.

Black and Orange swirled vinyl edition comes with an A2 poster and an exclusive lithograph of the cover art by Jay Shaw.

Black Vinyl edition comes with an A2 poster.

ugh.

horrible artwork.

and why did anyone decide that this needed a "remaster"?

UGH.

Looks like they polished the old typo of the movie for modern movie enthusiasts.

Photoshop'ped until it fit to the modern generation who has never heard or seen movies like Precinct 13.

Death Waltz Recording Company are set to become the premier vinyl soundtrack label for cult film enthusiasts!

interesting advert for the label………

Not sure why this thread is so hostile. Death Waltz seems like it's going to be a cool label with a very specific (and limited) focus-- limited art editions of cult film soundtracks on vinyl with screenprinted covers by respected artists. The Escape from New York release has music on it that didn't make it into the film. I'd say it's worth investigating for that fact alone.

I can understand not liking Iron Jaiden's style, but he is a renowned artist in the film poster art scene-- check ebay for examples of how in demand some of his prints are.

Would be nice to get a review how it looks and sound- maybe their artwork isn't very nice but the music is proper as a remaster/repress/first off edition whatever……

I threw an order down as I've never had the soundtrack in any other form than mp3. I'll let you know on both counts.

Thank you very much. They are a bit pricey but I think at least it's far better than any extracted mp3s from a old source or dvd. I have a audio rip from the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie because the soundtrack made it never to a proper release. They even have the audio stems anymore so the only way to get it was the extraction.

By the way: the soundtrack is excellent- Cyclobe mentioned it in an interview that they were highly impressed by the avantgarde score the movie has.

It was released free some time ago on a blog but it seems it's gone now- if somebody has serious interest, send me a short note.

That reminds me of the Blade Runner Los Angeles November 2019 'soundtrack', where some enterprising soul took the ambient audio from the Blade Runner game and interspersed it with snippets from the film audio track. It makes for a great listen, but was never released commercially... I love soundtrack oddities like that.

Me too but they are hard to get nowadays. I found a blog some years ago with some nice unknown movie soundtracks, often obscure b-movies but it seems it vanished for obvious reasons. Often it's on the edge sharing those content.
