physically fucked up record of mine

i bought a record and the hole was too tight to fit on my record player so i made it larger with a pair of scissors.

my problem is now the record fits a bit loosely, maybe 1 mm too wide, i can tell when i move it back and forth with my hand while it's on

since it's loose should i worry about dropping the needle in the middle when playing? it has never skipped before but i worry about my needle.

You can take small slivers of tape and fold them through the oversized hole, usually it only takes 1 or 2 for the record to sit snugly on the spindle again.

yes, i can make it tighter again but who's to say that it will be lined up properly by doing that?

Just 1 or 2 mm shouldn't make too much of a difference. I have a Can record that has a slightly off-centre hole and I can't notice anything wrong. Then again it is Can—it's hard to tell with some krautrock stuff!
