Lead designers Harvey Smith and Raf Colantonio have described the game world as a "simulation"; if the player encounters thugs harassing an innocent passerby, they can be fought off, but the thugs themselves exist within the game world prior to the event, rather than simply spawning in at a designated time or place. If the player encounters the thugs ahead of time, they can be defeated and the mugging will never take place at all.

I wonder if you kill all the rats you see whether eventually there will be less rats in the game. Although they breed faster than humans. But how about say taking out all the crows. I doubt though that atmospheric elements like the birdlife and rodents inhabiting the levels will have any sort of in game thread beyond the immediate encounter.

Getting some of Thief's stealth and Dark Messiah's melee combat into a cool environment would be cool. Looking at that CG trailer and the first screenshots it seems to have high production values. Seems to be a source engine game? So it's probably quite linear. Edit: Unreal Engine 3 and "open world" apparently. Seems ambitious for this studio.

 

And yeah there's certainly a bit of Half-Life 2 in the art direction.

I wonder if Valve are now going to go back and re-write HL3 yet again, this time to make it open world. Push back the release date another 5 years. heh.

yes, yes it did. For a brief moment in time, Jordan Thomas was the rising star of level design. After Ion Storm imploded he went over to 2k to work on Bioshock. Talented fellow.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

 

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

Yeah, those graphics are kind of lackluster. Modern Warfare 2 looks better. Still looks like an interesting game, though. Bethesda makes good games.

dang, people are spoiled. Although those trailers were edited poorly. Less is more, etc. Should have been about 1/4 the length. Arkane are more or less an indie studio, even if they have Bethesda bucks behind them, should cut them some slack in the visuals dept...

Yeah the difference in quality between to the two trailers is pretty considerable - It's like they're from two different generations of console ... I mean good graphics do not a good game make, but it is quite surprising how worse the second video looks compared to the first one.

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

This trailer seems to have been made with console graphics levels. Also, had to play with sound down. heh.

They don't want to disappoint a chunk of their sales which is to console ppl. So many trailers get low rez graphics because of the fucking stone age console market.

Apparently this isn't what the game will look like even on the PC which nowadays could support an engine that looked like that. Look to the ugly second video for a real view of what the game looks like.

 

FUCK i hate what those two consoles have done to game development. pissa me orf.
