The Official Bill Murray Thread

Recommended Posts

Benedict Cumberbatch/Jimmy McMessageboard wanted a Bill Murray thread.

New {fake} Trailer from David Walton Smith on Vimeo.

    Quote

Bill Murray, the coolest person you've never met, has added another nearly-unbelievable story to his legendary repertoire of weirdness: at some point last year, the actor made a slow-motion movie.

Unearthed by someone on Reddit (viaBadass Digest) right before the long holiday weekend, the video was actually made by Murray in lieu of giving an autograph.

"This is not a trailer for a real film," Vimeo user David Walton Smith wrote last year. "Bill Murray was kind enough to grant us our wish of walking down the hallway in slow motion -- simple. This is better than autograph."

He's likeable. Like Tom Hanks but less sparkly. Also funnier.

yeah he did some good films but most are shit and he always seems to be playing himself

but hey i prefer him over a thousand actors

I think I started to really enjoy his film presence after seeing Rushmore, before that Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, and Stripes were all watched a lot by me as a child.

Not a big fan of Lost in Translation but I think he is great in it. I just don't like Sofia Coppola.

He underplays his character in Broken Flowers so well, love that film.

Pretty much everything after Rushmore, I love him in, even if I don;t like the film.

Bill Murray preference here.

"Back off, man. I'm a scientist"

Not so much a Murray appreciation, but Ghostbusters is an excellent movie. It has plenty of small details, like Rick Moranis character who constantly locks himself out of his apartment becomes the Keymaster.

i just like his personality in films, particularly the older ones. he's funny and has a bit of a stoner vibe going on.

For awhile as a little kid Bill Murray was my favorite actor. It probably stems from me being a huge Ghostbusters fanatic (I had all the toys btw). He just stood out to me for reason in his humor and presence. The consistency and sameness of his characters likely helped. I guess I felt more sophisticated laughing at him than, say, Pee-Wee Herman, who was my idol of choice before Murray. I would tell people I liked Murray on purpose. When Space Jam came out I smitten that he showed up. I even enjoyed this movie soley because he was in it:

The Man Who Knew Too Little is quite underrated as well. He's never made a mindblowing shift from comedian to serious actor and he never will, but I like that. There's something warm and believable about him, especially in Life Aquatic and Lost In Translation. Makes his "serious" moments more emotional.

Also, this awesome scene in The Rutles, the greatest Beatles spoof/homage ever.

I've read some interesting interviews with Bill. He's a very cool dude. Plus, he does a great job in Anderson's films.

this is really strange, but i grew up always thinking bill murray was a handsome man...like, if you could define handsome, Bill Murray would somehow fit that definition.

To this day I have no idea why I grew up thinking that.
