The Man With the Iron Fists

Recommended Posts

A few years ago, I remember reading that RZA had written a kung fu movie that he wanted to direct but I kind of never thought it would happen. I'm not gonna lie, I definitely am more interested in this than the typical kung fu flick mostly because of RZA's involvement. Anyone familiar with the Wu Tang Clan's catalog knows that if there is one thing (other than hip hop) that RZA knows it's old kung fu flicks. I'm talking encyclopedic knowledge. I figured he was just a fan until I listened to his commentary to 'The 36th Chamber of Shaolin'. He was correcting the film scholar about the film. Apparently, he also "learned a lot watching Tarantino film 'Kill Bill'", Tarantino is also producing. Looks ridiculous enough to be entertaining.

I know it's going to be really entertaining and over the top. I'm looking forward to it, but probably won't pay to see it in a theater.

The next trailer might change my mind though. RZA is a bad ass and I haven't been watching enough kung fu movies lately.

Looks ridiculously over the top. Love it. Will see in theaters.

Yo takeshi - any links to the RZA commentary of 36 Chambers of Shaolin?

I bought the dvd for pretty cheap. But I'm sure there's a torrent out there somewhere.

looks ridiculuous , if there is ever a firework display with 3dragons flame throwing against each others faces, then the city of tokyo takes flight, then we should all come together to celebrate this flick, seriously, all we need is 3 dragons minimum to set the city alight, too much to ask? i want tokyo burning to the ground before this film is released

RZA for life, for real, motherfucker

I actually meant a link for the DVD. Just wanted to know which release had the commentary. Suppose I should have used google-fu.

lol

through the years, a man peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, tools, stars, horses and people. shortly before his death, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.

Looks like a jumbled mess. I have a feeling RZA has tried to cram too much of the wuxia cliches in one movie.

Yeah, Tarantino has nothing to do with it, but it is a tactic to get people to go out and see the movie. He's tacking Tarantino's name onto the movie much in the way that it was tacked onto Iron Monkey and The Protector with Tony Jaa. Not sure if it worked in those cases, but it's worth a try.

I think this movie looks pretty cool, and I want to support RZA, so I'll definitely be checking it out.
