I'm sure this thread has been made before but Wolfgang Voigt is a genius and totally warrants another thread

I don't know the original track number, but I love to death #6 from Gas (from Nah und Fern).

Was there a previous Gas thread that had all the differences between the Nah und Fern tracks to the original releases or am I imagining things. Searching for "gas" does not give any results.

And yes, Nah und Fern was in heavy rotation when it came out. It's music to get lost in. Sublime stuff.

Ah yes. Gas. Voigt's music is incredible. Zauberberg 2 is probably my favorite of his work... but its so hard to choose. So i won't.

Sorry for the double post, but I just heard this one for the first time, and wow. This music really speaks to me.

Yes, this track was completely omitted from the remastered version in Nah Und Fern, for whatever reason. I believe I remember Voigt saying somewhere at the time that some master tapes of certain pieces could not be found for the remastering, so the Gas S/T remaster omits that track and actually ADDS a completely new track in its place.

Anyway, if you want it, it's on the original version of the CD/3LP, although I can recommend tracking down the 3LP over the CD version as the vinyl has significantly longer versions of almost all the tracks. The S/T is often the most overlooked one of the four and I've always felt it was quite strong, esp. for that opening track.

  • 3 months later...

Sorry to bump an older thread, but in spirit of the season, I think these two tracks are appropriate. They're both vinyl only cuts from konigsforst that I heard for the first time late last night. Beautiful.

even though I just heard A1 for the first time last night, it seems like a song I've always known. It just speaks to me. Takes me on a journey through the universe of my inner most thoughts.
