Dub Techno that sounds like a hybrid of dub and techno

Hey hey!

I'm a fan of bouncy dubby techno but a lot of what seems to be classed as Dub Techno (eg the Basic Channel stuff) seems to be not very dubby just a track with a moderately slow bpm with delay on some of the synths. Stuff that seems to straddle the two genres I'm finding hard to find, though here's a couple:

Anyone know of any other good examples of really dubby/reggae-influenced dub-techno

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

I know what you mean - most "dub" techno is technically excellent but sometimes long and dull. It's really focused on the studio fuckery aspect of "dub" A lot of Basic Channel stuff sounds like it has more in common with 70s kosmische musik sometimes..

Also, the "dub techno" article on wikipedia is gone, and replaced with a shitty soon-to-be-deleted "dubtronica" article. Goddamn you internet

I know I've heard a tracks much more aligned with the awesome songs you posted, I need to hunt them down. A lot of older dubstep 12" fall in the category. Until then, this is all that's come to mind right away:

You might dig some of the stuff on the free netlabel Thinner if ya haven't checked it out already. Not sure what's happened to their site (now just an archive of past releases)

You might like the Jack Dangers & Dubloner collab, the 12" is worth picking up.

Dubloner themselves might lean a little bit more toward the Basic Channel side of things, but I quite like them.

Also i'm moving this to Music Discussion - lol moderator war!

Indeed it was ;)

Yagya is quite nice, similar to the Deepchord stuff some of the time, other times they are a little more ambient.

maybe the new lee scratch perry and orb collab album!

You would've thought so huh, unfortunately it's just (IMO) middle of the road meandering electronica:

Not sure how deep you've dug into the the whole Basic Channel thing, but some of the stuff on their sublabels is much more dubby than technoey and might be more what you're looking for. Especially the Rhythm & Sound, Main Street and Burial Mix imprints.

Intrusion has a more dubby flavour than the echospace parent label.

Probably not what you are looking for but think this track is an absolute belter

Interestingly, most of the stuff that's been released on echospace is apparently from the 90s and early 00s.

Ha, in contrast to yesterdays post about my disappointment of the project check out the new dubby version of Little Fluffy Clouds from the aforementioned Orb/Lee Scratch Perry collab album -
