for Londonites, how will this event fuck up your life for the next several weeks? The only US news coverage we're getting sonfar is rooftop missiles, lack of security, poor planning, rainy weather etc etc

American mainstream media sux. Good question though.

i think honestly only americans REALLY care about the olympics... like other countries watch the interesting spectator sports i guess, but they certainly don't turn it into some kind of grand nationalistic general competition to see who is the best country.

oh yeah and all the good spectator sports like football and tennis already have much better competitions anyway so why even watch the olympics?

If it's anything like past editions, it'll mean endless hours of nothing else on TV but unknown people playing all kinds of sports/track and field competitions one didn't even knew existed. I don't know how people still get excited over the olympics, it's too many things happening at once and you have to sift through it all to get to 2 or 3 sports that you do enjoy. I'll be watching out for soccer and basketball mostly, but still not expecting a lot out of it. Maybe volleyball will be interesting as well.

I was in London a week ago for the Bloc debacle. The DLR is looking good but I suspect they'll still have big traffic/transportation issues. Most londoners I know feel it's mostly a hassle, that the olympics are looked upon as a real estate boom for certain areas of the city more than anything else.

I enjoy watching the best athletes at the pinnacle of sport vying for outstanding achievement in the field of excellence. Track & field especially.

Spare me the olympic ideals, brotherhood, sportsmanship, etc. though. It's all about the money. Everything is about the money.

Media coverage in the States generally sucks. I'm sure with the dozen plus channels nbc owns you'll at least be able to catch most stuff live, but fuck the following:

- tape-delayed shit for prime time

- the human interest stories (you know, so'n'so overcoming such adversity omg)

- that media rights bullshit where all other news outlets wanting to report on the olympics can only show still images

- 'medal table' I remember one year both China and the US claimed to be at the top, one had more total medals while the other had more golds

Can't go wrong with beach volleyball.

Me and a couple of friends were talking about this on the weekend - we came to the conclusion that juicing should be allowed. Let em take whatever they want.

Man if one is to believe all the videos on youtube, the London Olympics will be a massive bloodbath of Satanic/Masonic rituals combined with false-flag terrorist attacks in order to further cow the sheeple.

I will be watching with eager anticipation (and bloodlust).

i fondly remember two things from last olympics.

I think it's a waste of money overall and I'll be avoiding the area as much as possible. The whole of London being the area. People at work have been moaning about the fact it'll take over tv for a while. I make the point of reminding them there's only ever a few different things on tv:

• Fat people singing
  
• People selling all their shit
  
• Cunts wallpapering and such
  
• Auctioning rubbish nobody in their right mind will want
  
• Council estate arguments

call me unpatriotic, but the only way i will get any entertainment value out of the olympics is if it's a complete shambles.

I would watch it if the stupid media programs here in the states didn't always talk about who is in the lead with the most medals every other second. I fucking despise how the "fuck yea 'merica!" media portrays our sporting events on the global scale. The Womens World Cup whatever pissed me off with that too.
