Guest Roksen Creek
So, I was browsing itunes and came across this Electrospective, which was released this month by EMI. I couldn't find it under the search function, so not sure if it's been missed or if it has just been ignored because of the tracklist. I thought I'd post it just in case anyone is interested. For those who have not seen it and thought the bleep compilation was bad, you may want to look away now. Don't say I didn't warn you. 1 BBC Radiophonic Workshop Doctor Who Theme 2 Roxy Music Virginia Plain 3 Brian Eno Here Come The Warm Jets 4 Tangerine Dream Rubycon 5 Can I Want More 6 The Normal Warm Leatherette 7 Cabaret Voltaire Nag Nag Nag 8 Telex Moskow Diskow 9 Simple Minds I Travel 10 OMD Messages 11 Ultravox Sleepwalk 12 The Human League The Things Dreams Are Made Of 13 Duran Duran Planet Earth 14 Heaven 17 I'm Your Money (12" Extended Version) 15 Yazoo Don't Go (Remix) 16 Phil Oakey & Giorgio Moroder Together In Electric Dreams 17 Pet Shop Boys West End Girls 18 Erasure Who Needs Love (Like That) 19 Mantronix King Of The Beats 20 Nitzer Ebb Control I'm Here 1 Inner City Big Fun 2 Soul II Soul Back To Life (However Do You Want Me) 3 Renegade Soundwave Women Respond To M 4 Depeche Mode Enjoy The Silence 5 Moby Go 6 The Future Sound Of London Lifeforms 7 Daft Punk Around The World 8 Adam F Circles 9 Massive Attack Inertia Creeps 10 Air Kelly Watch The Stars 11 St Germain Rose Rouge 12 Radiohead Everything In Its Right Place 13 The Chemical Brothers Star Guitar 14 Goldfrapp Strict Machine 15 Gorillaz Dare 16 Eric Prydz VS Floyd Proper Education 17 David Guetta, Joachim Garraud, Chris Willis Love Is Gone (Fred Reister & Joachim Garraud Radio Edit Remix) 18 DEADMAU5 FEAT. ROB SWIRE Ghosts 'N' Stuff 19 Swedish House Mafia One http://shop.electros...8G0000000?back= It saddens me really because it starts off reasonably but then seems to get progressively worse (or more pop). I mean, I do like some of the modern tracks but it's not really representative of what I think electronic music is. There are those that want to get into electronic music and think that this is the best out there. I guess I would have less of a problem if it was labelled "Electronic Pop Music since 1958", but then it does start off with the likes of Tangerine Dream and Can, so even that would be misleading. I also guess it depends on what EMI are able to put out. Anyway what do you guys think?
