This kitten popped up yesterday around our place. He/she was probably abandoned by his mom or by someone that lives around, i dunno. It is very skinny and constantly meowing, like if it was trying to call his mom. We gave him some milk, It's not that hesitant as before, but a little more playful, and keeps following us and meowing just outside our door. I can hear it from inside the house. The kitten is very disoriented and i am afraid it can be hurt by our cars while we leave. I want it to survive, but i am afraid it can get very close to us, which is already happening. Should i call the animal protection center? I have never had any cats, and this one seems to have been abandoned, and i don't know what to do...

yeah. we had taken in a kitten a year or so back and I got a lot of helpful advice on this forum.

I would buy some formula, nutrient rich milk. He looks big enough to eat some solid food as well. If you have a spare room, I would let him stay in one room that can be easily monitored until you can get him cleaned up (check for worms, fleas, etc.) If you can spare a room, and don't mind it being dirty, maybe pooped on for a while. And of course, give the poor lad some love!

Good luck figuring out what to do. We were lucky and had a professor at our university adopt him.

buy some cat food

feed it,adopt it

post the pics on craigslist if you can't adopt it-lost cat

or cat for adoption etc

you can also bring it to the aspca where someone might adopt it or it might get gassed if no one does

^excellent points

Some cats are just street cats, but checking to see if they're lost is sensible. Contact local animal control and get it fixed if possible - here in the states they'll often give you a cage to trap it, bring it in to get fixed and checked out health wise, and then you release it. It's a win-win for communities: you can feed them, they might even eat bugs and rodents to boot, and they're not going to repopulate. I've always known a couple people who end up "adopting" feral cats for years and years by feeding them in their yards, alleys, etc - it's like having a fuzzy neighbor you see everyday.

There used to be a posse of such cats in my old apartment - a good half-dozen or so that lived in a nearby park, as well as an abandoned cat that the whole complex basically fed and doted on.

so it literally popped up?

perhaps you should think about purchasing some pop-up-blocker.

the cat probably just wants to sell you some of this weird "totally legal" catnip.

adopt it

god this thread reminds me of young George Foreman...I wanted to adopt him so, so bad, but my stupid fucking allergies and lack of money...

I visited him this summer though, so that was nice :) I'd like to think he remembered who I was.

If I had a million dollars, I guarantee you I'd be one of those crazy eccentrics that buys a huge plot of land and a small house for abandoned animals.

he's demanding that you give him your house, You better do what he asks, he may even let you live with him.

ZOMG! Lazerz pew pew pew!!!!11!!1!!!!1!oneone!shift+one!~!!!

adopt, post a few lost cat advertisements/flyers and help him out for a time with food and trips to the veterinarian, or take to a no-kill shelter far from Scotland where he has a chance of being adopted by someone who is not keltoi

Feed it now and then. If you do though, being creatures of habit, it'll probably not leave you alone of its own accord. Phone the nearest rescue type place and see what they recommend.

:doge: Jet fuel can't melt dank memes :doge:

Make sure you shave it so it's cooler in the hot portuguese sun. Glue its hair back on with cellotape for the winter.

WTf keep the cat man, don't be a nazi whore !

Keep him in the house for 2 weeks, buy a shitload of kittylitter and feed him! :cat:

I'm hardly a closed minded nun. Remember, I'm on a fucking IDM forum.... an IDM forum.. Think about that for a second before claiming people are closed minded nuns.

probably more than a single shitload of litter would be advisable

We adopted an older siamese stray a few months ago and he is an amazing pet. Calm, friendly, independent, not too clingy but very loving. It's great to have a pet with street smarts.

That cat looks adorable, keep it! Just get some vet work done to make sure it's not a plague carrier.
