Make A Chick-Fil-A Chicken Sandwich At Home

Recommended Posts

Our non-US members might not be aware of US fast food chain's stance on same-sex marriage, but anyone who has tried a Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich knows they have a winning formula when it comes to chicken sandwiches. Here's a way to enjoy the sandwich without compromising your views that may differ with the company's president.

apparently there are conservatives around my area in lines waiting to buy Chick-Fila....some of them have claimed to be eating nothing but stuff from their restaurant for the next few days. Not making this up.

ps. that is an awesome article. was great to read the guys' process in figuring it out.

Awesome! I'm in the States but we don't have Chick-Fil-A in my area anyway, in addition to the fact that their politics suck. I used to love their sandwiches when I lived in NJ.

This shit is so absurd.

Didn't some conservative pronounce August 1st as "Chick-Fil-A Day"?

The one good thing that's come out of all of this is seeing other retailers and food establishments acting out in support of gay marriage... even if only to attract a new target market.

here's where i turn pretty partisan

stunts like the "conservatives" lining up over here is seriously low and pathetic, and pretty much describes the make up of the far-right these days. Usually even though I disagree, I don't have a problem with people voicing their opinions. But this is just something that seems really really spiteful.

Leave it to Mike Huckabee to make Chik Fil A into a battleground state. You dumb douchebag.

I have no problems with anyone having an opinion (even one I disagree with) on something, but when you're the head of a company and publicly proclaim your opinion as what your company stands for, you have to expect people to react, and in some cases, no longer patronize your business on principle. It's hypocritical too taking that kind of stance since Chick Fil-A probably has people working for it that this very opinion is contrary to.

I just wish people would get along and get over all this categorization and discrimination.

It's honestly a pretty shitty sandwich. Man, people have low standards.

I wouldn't eat at Chick Fil-A now, given that money I give it will go to causes I do not support, but I wouldn't eat at Chick Fil-A anyway, because it's just a sandwich featuring extremely salty fried chicken of dubious origin, and a fucking hamburger bun, and two pickle slices, and that's it. That's it. It's not that impressive. And it's a stupid name, probably chosen because Southern Baptists think saying any word of French origin will turn them homosexual.

OK, I'll bite - let's hear what a Baph-Approved™ superior chicken sandwich is and where to get one!

Just go to a place that isn't a national fast food chain? You can get a generic po boy just about anywhere in the U.S. and it will be at least as good, with flavors that aren't just coming from brine, and it will be on a nice baguette instead of a wonder bread analog?

The Chick-Fil-A thing is basically just a shittied up chicken po-boy.

I've definitely had fried chicken done much better than Chick Fil-A, but I don't go to fast food chains very often. I know Chick Fil-A is good, if that's the standard. I just don't think it should be.

You can make something more interesting at home, too:

Ah, I see - National Food Chain = bad food. Got it.

Most places I've eaten at that have "generic po-boys" are just that - generic po-boys that live up to that description.

Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying Chick Fil-A's sandwich is the be-all end-all, but it's pretty unique on the flavours compared to most other chains' chicken sandwiches...

All this talk of chicken sandwiches is making me hungry... time for lunch!

no, not all national food chains are bad. national fast food chains are a lousy standard by which to measure your food, that's all. If our home cooking is an attempt to replicate a fast food chain's commodities, there is something very wrong with the way we are appreciating food, as a culture.

I've had pretty good, flavorful po-boys from mom and pop places and sit-down restaurants. I didn't honestly mean to suggest that any place you go is going to be brilliant just because it's not Chick Fil-A. You have to put in a little work to find a high-quality restaurant these days, I'm sure we can all agree.

See also In-N-Out, really. Yeah, they're better than McDonald's, but if that's the best burger you think you can get... I just... I don't even... what? And yet people are hardcore, raving fans, and make going there a priority when visiting California from out of state.

So yeah, honestly, we should fucking raise our standards. By a lot.

I appreciate the intent behind the OP and the linked article. Stick it to this shitty company all you want. I know the guy wasn't suggesting you should make this every day. In part, he's suggesting you can make something similar with chicken that isn't frozen-on-arrival and pre-brined through some industrial process. That's a plus.

But man, the product in question just isn't that deserving of praise.

One of nature's best all-purpose seasonings... let me guess - you're in the "MSG is baaad for you" camp, right?

MSG originally came from seaweed, which is a pretty awesome source of nutrients. Not sure how they make the commercial stuff.

I was apathetic about it all until their company started an abyssal PR campaign, with Jesus-citing fake FB accounts to boot, instead of re-asserting an existing policy of serving all customers of all backgrounds with respect.

The idea of a boycott was a bit superficial to me, many other private corporations donate to anti-gay organizations. But once right-wing nuts started to tout eating their because the CEO is a bigoted religious nut, I officially said "fuck Chick-fil-A"

If they suffer, I pity their mostly hard-working and friendly employees, but backlash is warranted and that's the free market in play. Social conservatives are just as picky with Bible verses as they are with what constitutes as "fair" with capitalism and free speech. They're all tough and opinionated until the public actually tells them to fuck off, then they cry about it and blame "liberal" media conspirators and other nonsensical bullshit.

I had never heard of chick-fill-a before this thing. They sound like a brand of tampons to me.

im surprised that no one here knew that Chick is a huge religious run chain. ive know this for a couple years now. same with hobby lobby, they too are a pretty religious group. which is weird since a company shouldn't have a stance on that stuff in my opinion.

Nobody "here" said they didn't know that "Chick is a huge religious run chain."

Granted. i shouldn't just assume.

tbh, ive probably only eaten at that place once or twice my entire life. I always went for the Panda Express at the food court.
