should I keep my akai s1100 ?

Recommended Posts

I never had the time to explore this beast, I think I bought it for drum n bass, and now as I'm moving I think I'm going to sell it. Will it bring me joy, when cutting the beats, will it ? what to do, halp watmm.

I got an Akai S2000 sitting on my shelve gathering dust. I'd love to get some samples into it but everything I'd done to put it into use has failed.

I used to have one of those. I loved the "intelligent" timestretch algorithm on it - throw something like a snare or rimshot into it, stretch it out a bunch, and you get some pretty freaky bass/pad fodder.

sample yourself smashing it to pieces, make an EP using the samples, profit.

what would that sell for anyways? Seems like something that might periodically be fun, but more normally a pain in the ass.

they aren't worth much, but there is probably a sucker out there willing to pay for it. if you dont have a way to store your samples, you might as well get rid of it. unless you feel a specific need for it, anyway.

meanwhile - the local maternity ward - nurse comes in with a great big sledgehammer

sounds good.

Looks like the s6000 with the bigass detachable screen would be nice. Pretty cheap too. :)

bro,

whats wrong with your s2000?

if you need an OS disk pm me your address

i just found my OS disk today, joy

I got the OS. I tried all sorts to get samples on it via various media e.g zip & cd. Also tried to create some samples but just gave up after it kept freezing. If ya got some floppy disks of samples that'd be swell tho!

Some people swear those Akai rack samplers are magical.

And the aliasing on early BOC hi-hats is scientific proof that they're mega-rad 2 the Xtreme.

Keep that beast.
