Guest The Bro
My friend gave this to me yesterday as well as two Aiwa speakers. The speakers are certainly gonna come in handy and will be a good upgrade from existing Aiwa's as they have much wider frequency response, have 5 way sound, are about twice the size and have 8" woofers!!! Anyways I now have 3 hardware fx units so I guess I better start making use of them lol!!! modey
I've never heard of it but it looks pretty 80s, so at least you should be able to get some nice gritty super digital reverbs out of it! Guest The Bro
Yeah it came out in 1989. Just ordered a few jack cables for it so will hopefully be able to have a play with it in a few days! Guest ryanmcallister
i read up a bit on it before making fun of you about it, looks like the only midi capabilities it has is for changing the presets. and the presets can't be edited at all... Audioblysk
It was free. All pieces of gear have at least one setting that's badass. One of my favorite plate reverbs is on this digital fostex 4 track I have, would never guess it, but it makes even the best plate delays I have used sound piss poor. I love it: only on WATMM can you get people laughing at you for asking about a piece of hardware you got for FREE to make your music. Use the shit out of it and blow the haters minds, Bro. I'm sure if rich had one, this forum would slob on your knob for its mediocre sounds. I was actually beginning wondering how much this fx unit differs from the Alesis reverbs RDJ, Autechre, and Squarepusher used. Paradinas used an Art Multiverb LT on Tango N' Vectif, though I'm guess that was more capable model. Meh, useful or not looks fun as hell to play around with, especially for free. Guest ryanmcallister
yo Bro, no offense aimed at you here. I thank you for your contribution around these parts, striking up discussion about various gear. I just tend to take the devil's advocate role, I don't really find much of the gear you post about appealing. But on a personal level you seem like a good guy so I've got no problem with you. Guest RadarJammer
I think it's fun to see old junky looking stuff like this but hardly thread worthy. Would be a perfect opportunity to bump the studio pic's thread. Cheap digital reverb's aren't just for warp hipsters, they are interesting for audio geeks in general. Guest The Bro
I'm gonna post up an updated pic of my studio soon. And hopefully my jack cables will have arrived in the post so I'll have a play with this digital reverb proper tonight. Gotta say though 200 presets is more than enough to be of use!! I love software too. And I've managed to emulate most of my hardware using software. But there is something I love about 'junk hardware'. It's cheap, it's gritty, and can yield unexpected results. For example, I bought a noname brand phaser pedal for $10 around 6 years ago and it's still an essential part of my hardware setup. It's easily the most psychedelic effect unit I own. It's not about analogue/age worship (for me anyway—in fact, most of my hardware is cheap digital stuff made in the last 20 years), but the unique/bizarre/gritty sounds that can be created using them on their own/with other shitty hardware, whereas you'd really need to know your shit in order to make the same sounds with software. Just my opinion anyway. Guest The Bro
I'm a big software advocate after all 90% of the tunes I do these days are done in Beatmaker 2 on my Ipad. I've done a lot of posts on hardware and software for IOS but it all got merged into one which I found odd considering software is software whatever OS its running on.
