Guest The Bro

My friend gave this to me yesterday as well as two Aiwa speakers. The speakers are certainly gonna come in handy and will be a good upgrade from existing Aiwa's as they have much wider frequency response, have 5 way sound, are about twice the size and have 8" woofers!!!

Anyways I now have 3 hardware fx units so I guess I better start making use of them lol!!!

I've never heard of it but it looks pretty 80s, so at least you should be able to get some nice gritty super digital reverbs out of it!

It was free. All pieces of gear have at least one setting that's badass. One of my favorite plate reverbs is on this digital fostex 4 track I have, would never guess it, but it makes even the best plate delays I have used sound piss poor.

I love it: only on WATMM can you get people laughing at you for asking about a piece of hardware you got for FREE to make your music. Use the shit out of it and blow the haters minds, Bro. I'm sure if rich had one, this forum would slob on your knob for its mediocre sounds.

Yeah, you could probably get some nice Autechrey sounds out of rapidly changing presets via midi.. like sudden cuts to the tail, for example.

I was actually beginning wondering how much this fx unit differs from the Alesis reverbs RDJ, Autechre, and Squarepusher used. Paradinas used an Art Multiverb LT on Tango N' Vectif, though I'm guess that was more capable model. Meh, useful or not looks fun as hell to play around with, especially for free. Neat ultra-80's color trim as well.

yo Bro, no offense aimed at you here. I thank you for your contribution around these parts, striking up discussion about various gear. I just tend to take the devil's advocate role, I don't really find much of the gear you post about appealing. But on a personal level you seem like a good guy so I've got no problem with you.

please don't act like you know me at all. honestly i joined this forum in a time when i probably would have flipped out finding out rich had one, but i've matured since then and find that to be precisely the problem around these parts far too often. there's this novelty around here for using junk hardware, like just because it's analogue or because it's 30 years old old i'm supposed to bow down and fucking worship it? no thankyou, i think it's pretty obvious what separates the boys from the men around here.

i'm starting to feel an overwhelming sense that i'm maybe hanging out on the wrong forum lately. ya'll are my homies but honestly i could care less about aphex twin these days and my studio is ALL SOFTWARE!!!!

and you know what? i like it that way.

I love software too. And I've managed to emulate most of my hardware using software. But there is something I love about 'junk hardware'. It's cheap, it's gritty, and can yield unexpected results. For example, I bought a noname brand phaser pedal for $10 around 6 years ago and it's still an essential part of my hardware setup. It's easily the most psychedelic effect unit I own.

It's not about analogue/age worship (for me anyway—in fact, most of my hardware is cheap digital stuff made in the last 20 years), but the unique/bizarre/gritty sounds that can be created using them on their own/with other shitty hardware, whereas you'd really need to know your shit in order to make the same sounds with software. Just my opinion anyway.

whoa man, that was more aimed at Blanket Fort Collapse, who (IMO) manages to add nothing but troll-turds to most threads he replies in lately. I like your music and commentary in the EKT forum, as you're one of the more knowledgeable members, especially with your knowledge of Live. Perhaps you took my tone a little too seriously, that statement was meant to be more of a blanket joke on watmm, because lets face it, by even being here, we suck a little cock. :emotawesomepm9:

ahh ok. honestly i agree with BFC a lot of the time, I think he knows his shit, he's probably just a little more aggressive with his "no bullshit" policy then myself. i probably did take that a little too personal, you just honestly caught me at a time where I'm getting a little frustrated with this forum lately. i know i shouldn't, to each his own, there is no right or wrong way. i just personally am tired of hearing the same old "analog hardware drum machine" talk and "cheap digital reverb grittiness" stuff. seems boring and backward-ass thinking to me. that's why i get excited when somebody like Awepittance starts a thread about Reaktor patches or Max4live, or slightlydrybeans starts a thread about good sales on plugins and software, that's the stuff that is actually interesting to me, and it seems to be in a small minority around here. i'm not even a complete advocate for software either, there's some amazing hardware pushing the boundaries of music technology out there these days, but i guess none of us can afford it so none of us talk about it. i don't feel like that's a justification for settling for shit gear we can buy for $50 and then proceeding to talk about it like it's on everybody's minds. as electronic musicians we should hold the highest standards for the production quality of our music.

seriously though, not your problem, i should chill out. if i want those threads, i should start them. you just poked the beast and i maybe got a little over-defensive. i appreciate the kind words on my behalf. :-)

In this thread, people use different stuff to make music and people get all bitchy about it.

Just use the shit you want to, and make the music you want to or something.

I like the paint job on that reverb unit.

I'm a big software advocate after all 90% of the tunes I do these days are done in Beatmaker 2 on my Ipad. I've done a lot of posts on hardware and software for IOS but it all got merged into one which I found odd considering software is software whatever OS its running on.
