i'm a big fan of his earlier stuff (can be found here: http://www.nymshifter.com/music/index.php) and i am SO excited for this. it seems that it's gonna be interesting and varied in tone but all centered around acid/electro beats. i'm looking forward to it, i figured some of you folks may be interested in it too.

lots of pounding beats and lots more awesome acid-y synths all over this section of the series, with catchy melodies buried and at the fore...very nice over all!

for the the record, i'm not the artist or affiliated with him in any way, just a big fan of a lot of his work! i hope a few of you might give it a listen, because i think this new stuff (and his huge back catalogue) is awesome.

mini-review by me!

Crystal Circuit Caverns builds some catchy softly delayed melodies from out of warbles and punches of filtered pads and synths, with the last few minutes introducing some great acid squelches that somehow marry perfectly into the track. like many melodies in the Litmuses series, these are often conversational in tone; they bounce back and forth speaking to each other it seems, rising and sinking in volume and aggression in a question and answer discussion that becomes quite interesting upon repeated listens. Power Core comes across as an experiment in toying with the listeners ears; nearly everything going on in this track stays hidden within everything else, making for a great transitory track that doesn't stray into aimlessness or weak territories.

Blood Runs Green comes in as perhaps the slowest and moodiest track of the series thus far. the percussion is quite subdued, layers of it distanced with heavy reverb, allowing the swelling synths and hissing of hardware to show itself. stronger synths are still present but keep themselves hidden, mostly; imagery of snakes in an abandoned and aging spaceship come to mind...Outrun on Alpha Centauri Bb reminds us of the previous parts of the series with quick and strong acid beats, while introducing new layers of tones with synths. a well formed structure and introduction of percussive elements and familiar melodies all suggest reward with repeated listens, yet are still all at once immediately catching of the ear. a slower and moodier experience than the previous parts of the series, but still very familiar and tonally fitting.
