awesome song. funny how much it sounds like something from Oversteps.

definitely an oversteps precursor.

this has always been a favorite. actually, it was among the small batch of mp3s which initially got me into autechre (eutow was the hook though).

I love all of Amber. Great album.

Sublime, riveting stuff. I had this idea of conducting a live version of Nine with traditional Chinese instruments. I can almost picture the sound, but can't quite reach it without drooling profusely.

Anyway, great track.

you too? I had a bunch of starter tracks as well. the one that finally made me think "this is the most amazing shit ever" was Rae.

One of my favourite tracks to listen to on acid. Something about the repeating melody rhythm made me think of the letter K.

After buying "Amber" back in 1997, I thought that the C side of it (nine & further) was one track. The cover said "NINE.FURTHER" so they became one track for me. I can listen to "Nine" only in conjunction with "Further" ever since. Together they have taken me to some amazing journeys and still do. Pure "inner out-of-spaceness".

Kind of similar for me.

Nine was one of the tracks that got me into Autechre, whereas Further was a song I didnt pay much attention to on the album but has become one of my favourite Ae tracks. Nowadays, if I am just going to listen to Amber for 10-15mins, it's always Nine leading into Further. Beautiful patch on Amber, and the most 'night' part of the album.

i'll never forget when i first heard an amazon.com preview of rpeg. that melody sounded so ridiculously cool to me. i had it stuck in my head for weeks and i kept just listening to the 30sec preview over and over before buying the cd.
