This is a nice track. I really like the way the beat interacts with the ambience. If you could get the beat to sit a little stronger in the mix this track would be ace to me.

Yeah - I agree with Salvatorin. The pads are a biiiit too loud and they hold the drums down. I like the 'thin' sound of the drums so maybe you should just EQ the pads and make room for the drums :)

Appreciate the comment, Squee. The pads were from the song I remixed so it was a tough call what to do with them. It was a creative choice to leave them unedited but this could be the answer I was looking for in terms of how to edit them. Only problem is that I only have the wavs of the original so I was worried about EQing the completely wet sound, if that makes sense... I guess that wouldn't be a problem right?

Not a problem. Just make sure you like the end result and everything should be fine.

EDIT: You COULD also sidechain the shit out of it. It might sound a bit weird but if you turn the volume of the pads down a bit then it might just work. Trial and error, man :)
