Janet Cardiff - A Murder Of Crows [NYC]

Just went and experienced this today, it was awesome. I strongly recommend it to anyone who can go. It's a 98-speaker installation at the Park Ave Armory. About 1/2 hour long, it's a collage of story (narrator's speaker is through a gramophone at the center), sound, and music. There are a few chairs in the sweet spot of the speakers, but you're encouraged to wander around in the installation, which is in a big space (probably football field sized). I happened to be at the extreme right as a Russian marching choir materialized around me and swept through.

Anyway, 98 B&W speakers suspended in a huge dark room is pretty IDM, as well as whatever technology they had to cook up to get them all to work so fantastically together. Go hear this before it's gone.
