Cheap great analog drum machine?

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I'm looking for the cheapest analog drum machine with great sounds... I don't need it to make a lot of sounds, I was wondering if there is a device that does the minimal stuff very good, without fancy expensive options... Just good analog sounds, preferably with gate or MIDI in. Any suggestion?

First thing that sprang to mind was the MFB gear.

yeah good idea - check out the Jomox MBase_01 (or the newer version the MBase_11 - will be more expensive though for not much real difference) - fucking awesome analogue kick drums. had one for a few years, unfortunately sold it earlier this year, but i can attest to it's serious awesomeness.

also, not analogue but the Kawai XD-5 is really really good - imo one of the best digital drum machines ever made. 256 waveforms, lots of cross modulation and envelope possibilities, can do everything from 808/909 sounds to crazy glitched up digital shit. bit of a bitch to program but incredibly powerful and ahead of it's time...usually can be picked up pretty cheap if you can find one..

BOSS DR-110

it's cheap it's BOSS and it's analog.

edit: also the DR-110 can run on batteries and will fit in your coat pocket.

the XD-5, they're not cheap they're not that great and they're digital. and you'll never find one! !

I wonder if there is a difference in using just sampels?

sometimes i just go on holiday without a computer

If that's the only thing, just get a nice rompler :P or a tablet. There are some pretty great drum sequencers for both android and ios.

The monotribe only has 3 untweakable drum sounds (correct me if I'm wrong), could be kinda nice with the monotribe's filter though.

there's always something new to check out or buy, just when you think you've got your perfect setup and you don't need anything else, haha :0
