I only watched the last 15 minutes of the first debate. I literally LOL'd at Romney's statement about our country having "the world's best health care"

I already know whom I will vote for, but it's neither of the gentlemen we saw on the panel tonight.

throughout the world we are all so puffed up, so sure that we have all the answers or will have them forthwith, by utilizing the same flawed systems and processes that have limply lead us through this walking-wounded way of life over and over again. we are so stupid and instead of taking initiative in truth and in goodwill, to change in ourselves, to change each other, with each other, we instead wait for some other group of dodos more motivated then we are, to clean up our mess (as though they have a better idea of what to do), in hopes that we can continue making mess with good conscience; a cleaner, more efficient, more acceptable mess. we remain sickened with the same diseases that we have poisoned ourselves with, that we poison each other with and we puke it everywhere, all over each other, and so it goes, round and round. we are so stupid, the answers have been so obvious all along, yet we are seduced by falseness, seduced by subtle, seemingly-pleasurable-darkness, into degrees of semi-acceptable sickness in our everyday lives. we are the walking dead

Though I'm not so sure about "the answers have been so obvious all along".

Obama miscalculated badly. He just sat back waiting for Romney to come across as cold and out of touch, but Romney crushed it by simply repeating "jobs" and "people are hurting" over and over.

I'm glad to see watmmers come to the side of reason. You finally come to realize that america sucks ass! Not because of americans of course, as they're only human beings, but because of the lizardmen that control everything. Now a change can be made. I foresee the rise of watmmers.

Fine, but don't think that we're doing this for your sake.

Mitt Romney did really great, so you Americans might finally get someone who does something about the unemployment rate (more than 8 percent over the last 40+ months).

i think between this and the recent embassy attacks, Obama has been setup or is setting himself up to be Carterized, holy shit that was unexpected

its really super depressing that there was little to no talk whatsoever about our continuing Bush era preemptive warfare, rendition, torture, secret and offshore gulags. Is the 2nd debate supposed to cover that? I almost don't see how it could be done given that Romney is trying to do something virtually impossible, position himself to the right of Obama on foreign policy.

I was only able to catch the closing statements but...Obama looked tired and on autopilot. My feeling is Americans are tired of the economic downturn and are probably in the mood for some bloodsport, which apparently Romney is more ready to deliver than Obama. Hope Obama can dig deep and find a little conviction.

After this I listened to geogaddi and I didn't like it, I was quite vomitting at some tracks, I realized they were too crazy for my ears, they took too much acid to play music I stupidly thought (cliché of psyché music) But I knew this album was a kind of big forest where I just wasn't able to go inside.

I was in US tjis summer, and eat in KFC. FUCK That's the worst thing i've ever eaten. The flesh simply doesn't cleave to the bones. Battery ferming. And then, foie gras is banned from NY state, because it's considered as ill-treat. IT'S NOT. KFC is tourist ill-treat. YOU POISONERS! Two hours after being to KFC, i stopped in a amsih little town barf all that KFC shit out. Nice work!

So i hope this woman is not like kfc chicken, otherwise she'll be pulled to pieces.

Can anyone in the US answer this for me please? - British politicians sometimes try and appeal to the 'working class' - people who are below the middle incomes of the middle class, because these people make up the vast population of the UK. On the other hand, US politicians only seem to want to appeal to the middleclass yet you have a huge working class population, just as Britain does. So what's the deal with this intense concentration on the middle class of Ameria?

I watched most of it and it was boring and the moderator was shit so they both could ramble on and on about nothing. Romney looked better saying empty platitudes and thus "won" the "debate". You don't have to be factual, just somewhere in the ballpark to get people to vote for you. I laughed a little when they talked about education and kept talking how they would improve them with strategies that have put the US students somewhere in lower half in the global rankings. Having an ill-informed and dumb electorate I guess is a good thing to keep the status quo. The media will keep running the narrative that Romney is doing a comeback as having a tight race will keep their viewers interested and sell more ad space.

The problem is that Americans and British people define "class" completely differently.

In the UK, "middle class" actually means "rich, but not aristocratic". That's a big simplification because class comes down to a lot more than just money - it's to do with your accent, where you went to school, what shops you visit, what radio stations you listen to and what newspapers you read. The term carries connotations of snobbishness and exclusivity and broadly speaking refers to people well above the average income level.

In the US, "middle class" more often seems to refer to the better-off working class. All Americans like to consider themselves "middle class" if they own a home and a car. It's like that old Steinbeck quote:

"Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat, but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires."

Bonkers that someone can 'win' a presidential debate by saying they have the best health system in the world.

the worst thing about the debates is that i'm the only person i know who didn't watch them. can't believe you supposedly intelligent people still pay even the smallest amount of attention (respect) to this raging tornado of bullshit.
