one of the best bands ever, through silver is really magical brutality captured effortlessly. i really love almost everything they've done, and i think 'pain of mind' is a sublime hardcore punk album, especially with the bonus tracks. up there with the black flag 1982 demos. excited to hear the new album, really great that they chose steve to record it again.

meanwhile - the local maternity ward - nurse comes in with a great big sledgehammer

never got into them, tried a few times but never clicked with me.

If you post up some tracks which you think are fine examples then I'd be interested in having a listen.

I saw them in 96 or 97. My teen center was a really active part of the Seattle music scene but I was just 13 and beginning to figure out what was what. Me and a few other kids would show up early and sign up for cleaning the litter off the ground for a free ticket and then we would go into the woods and get stoned before the show. So I am nicely stoned and have no idea who is playing and I walk in and Neurosis is already playing and it was like a magic spell hit me over the head, I had never experienced anything like this and It was like stumbling into wonderland. They had this metal scaffolding like contraption that looked like it came from hell rigged up to project images of what seemed to be pure evil on the wall and I just found a spot and took it all in.

It's funny - way back then they played a lot of shows with Green Day.

They were both on Lookout! Records.

Different times..

Haha! I can imagine they'd be the ultimate crushing stoner band. Fuck stoner rock.

I just recently discovered their sister electronic project Tribes of Neurot. Grace is an amazing album. Its meant to be played simultaneously with Neurosis - Times of Grace but works just fine on its own.
