FL studio on a MacBook?

I've been trying to figure out how to install FL studio 9 on my MacBook. I've finally succeeded with a program called "Crossover".

But it runs like shit, to say the least. Way too much delay on everything. So it's not solution for me. I've heard about a program called "Wine Bottle" or something like that. But I'm pretty sure it won't run optimal with that either.

So is Bootcamp the solution if I want it to run optimal?

Or should I maybe consider switching to another producer program?

I've only tried FL Studio. And I don't have a clue what programs that are available/good on Mac's, since I've always been a PC user.

Are you sure the buffer length isn't just turned way up?

Go to Options > Audio Settings > And then drag the buffer slider as far to the left as your computer can handle.

Just a wild guess.

Logic is really good and so is Ableton Live

give renoise or reaper a try. I would suggest bootcamp to run FL but in the end its better to use logic instead. its much better

I run FLStudio on my macbook pro, I just use bootcamp though. I guess it's possible to run it through a virtual machine or wrapper on OSX, but it's that's gonna be using valuable system resources.

So to answer your question, yes Bootcamp is by far the best option.

If you're already really used to FL, there is no real reason to switch. I have XP as my bootcamp partition, and it runs far better than it ever did on a PC laptop. Just my experiences, maybe others have had differently.

But isn't Logic just for throwing a bunch of loops together? That how it looks in video and pictures I've seen of it.

Is there a trial for it?

should've just bought a regular laptop, imho.

I had a old regular laptop, that was supposed to be used for FL studio only.

But the motherboard died... so...

I lol'd because he's always been a PC user and FL Studio is his favourite program.

now he's got a Mac, can't use FL Studio and is asking if he should witch to another DAW... when he could've just bought another PC/laptop and carried on using FLS no problem. that's why I laughed.

FL Studio on a Mac is only viable using Bootcamp. anything else is just a waste of time believe me.

but congratulations on your Mac purchase - you can now enjoy the absolute delights of Five12 Numerology. pretty much knocks everything else into a cocked hat in terms of sequencing power, although it's limited in terms of being a DAW - which is why i use it in conjunction with Reaper for multitracking and recording duties.

seriously though, get Five12 Numerology. now.

plus don't listen to all this crap from sirch about should've got this or that. you've bought what you've bought (in my opinion a much better choice than a PC) and now need to get on with stuff. saying that you should have got something else is completely pointless.

..or if you've got a Mac now might aswell just start learning something like Logic.

should probably just do that and forget about FLS.

or, could always buy a cheaper laptop aswell to carry on using FLS and export WAV files from to CD/USB to use on ya Mac. innit. :)

Yeah Numerology looks so fucking awesome. Like the most powerful modular sequencer available.

Yeah, I'd suggest Five12 into Logic, especially if you are using hardware synths. Logic is a complete DAW with plugin support etc. As has been said here before, it's worth it for space designer alone @ only $200.
