i want to like his Sensate focus stuff but it doesnt really do much for me. It's the only alias or project of Fell that i havent been able to get into. Perhaps this one will be weirder if it's on PAn

thats funny, sensate focus is the only alias of fell i was able to get into until now.

e.g. the e-bass in this track is just so gorgeous, cooled-down yet powerful atmosphere:

i think part of the reason is that even the old SND stuff was heavily focused on sound design, most of the sensate focus stuff uses 808 and 909 sounds. It seems like more of a pure pleasure project for him, but i'd probably like it a lot more it it had the same rhythms and mixing style but just had more interesting sounds like SND

IDK, I can listen to pretty much anything Mark Fell puts out. I guess because the Sensate Focus releases remind me of going to raves and actually dancing to electronic music, rather than listening...

Then again, the last SND album was also pretty groovy. I think that's what I like about SNDs and Fell's aesthetic. It's simultaneously out there and experimental while still tethered to classic dance music. Claps, chord stabs, etc reconfigured...

yeah i hear you, it's just that Sensate Focus is the first MArk Fell related release i've heard where he uses familiar sounds that don't sound custom tailored. I guess i'm just too focused (no pun intended) on sound design, and Mark Fell has always been at the pinnacle of that in my mind. If it sounded exactly the same but used the drum sounds of later SND i'd listen to the shit out of it

I think 10 is unreal, and I like 5 a lot, but wasn't as taken with the others. Interested to see what this PAN LP will sound like.

I think Sentinelle Objectif Actualité sounds very Snd like to my ears, I certainly like it more than the Sensate Focus releases it's a remix of.

Digging this, but that high pitched effect that sounds like a bunch of flies buzzing around, during the last five minutes of 'X', is really irritating.

Man that track starts utter shit, but it gets really good.

I'm so undecided on Fell. makesndcassette, stdio and Tenderlove are magnificent, but everything since is kinda ropey. Some great moments on Atavism. Multistability was pretty much bobbins.

When I read the advert for it on boomkat I was expecting to hear more of the roughsounds Heatsick used. Instead it sounds like an amalgamation of different remixes made for Heatsick, just using a small palette of sounds and pressed and moulded into a SND/Sensate frame.
I'm not yet sure to get the vinyl, have to give a few more spin's to the digital. Nevertheless it has some strong moments in there.

I wonder why Sensate Focus remixed that album. The Intersex is far more interesting in my opinion.
