Dorian White - Paean

Dorian White, a.k.a. Dead Eros, a.k.a. Echidna to us WATMMs has released his first completely new work since 2010 (I think). It is called Paean and it is available as a free WAV download:

I have little doubt a netlabel (at the very least) will want to release this, so get it while it's cool and self-released.

I think this is his strongest work yet. Lovely soaring melodies, production that's a mix of 2020 and the best parts of the 80s, and sound design from outer space. Stuff that's clean and dirty in all the right places. His vocals are on some of the best tracks, which make this a more personal album to me.

In my version of the world, Engine Taker and Am I Monster are Top 40 hits. Magpie is truly insane hiphop, and I don't say that lightly. We All Bleed sounds like Jandek produced by Steve Albini. In other songs, I hear hints of Arovane, BOC, Merzbow, and Exit even manages to sound like smooth jazz without being bad somehow.

I give this my highest rating: 7 quasars exploding in distant skies.
