Hello Watmm,

This is a (hopefully ongoing) thread for my new tunes. Any constructive feedback of any nature is greatly appreciated, and yes, I'll aim to comment on your stuff too.

the skeleton of a whale

Something I finished at the end of last year, with a slightly fishy vibe...

...and just so this thread doesn't start off with only one track, here's something a bit older but worth 3:21 of your time:

maps, girls and rocket falls

I really like the production of the first one - really nice sounds. I like the melody that comes in at 3:00. It'd be nice to hear some variation or evolution or extra layers etc after the break about 4:20, but that's probably because of my expectations from listening to lots of traditionally structured music. Nice work.

Thanks for listening and for taking the time to comment,

Yep I know what you mean, there are some (very) subtle changes to the synths and percussion for the repeated section in the second half of the track but it's melodically the same thing. It was one of those situations where you think: how repetition works? / will the listener stick around? I figured I'd go for a six-and-a-half minute beast and see what happens.

Watmm, i present for your listening pleasure:

days and nights in the metagalaxy

https://soundcloud.com/bezhin-meadow/days-and-nights-in-the

It starts off quite moody, but gets more melodic and lush in the second half, stick with it...

The first part is great, during first two minute I was imagining it being 1995 era gescom and would develop into beats and more epic pads, but second half sounded totally not as I expected. Sounds good but second part's melodies is too cheesy for such an epic beginning.

Thanks for listening - you're right, it's very much a track of two quite different halves.

I wasn't sure where to take the darker first half of the track, and went in a warmer direction, so it ends up quite far from its starting point.

definitely enjoying days and nights in the metagalaxy. the interplay of synths and the great squeaking percussion and all is all well done. i do enjoy how the track ends even, but part of me wants the beats to break out and change somewhere maybe? just an idea. sounds great no matter though!

@ khrimson - glad you like the textures, that's one of the most fun things to pull together, for me anyway, balancing that with melodic and rhythmic stuff is where I start scratching my head.

@ auxien - thanks for listening, good point, I don't tend to feel super-confident in my drum programming to let the beats take the centre stage so much, but the next thing I'll upload is a bit more along those lines - so check back later in March...

A while back I was considering making a concept album about the twelve tasks of Hercules. Needless to say that didn't happen, but it did result in the following:

As ever, any feedback will be gratefully received.
