Salvatorin
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3wn8igSeiCI Okay so this album isn't new, it was released 27 March last year. It's a pretty tight, if somewhat sparse album. It has a dark spooky vibe that nicely melds many of the sounds of recent electronic music: post-dubstep, rnb, footwork, future-garage, trap, that witch genre, minimalist dub; a sound that I wouldn't say it's anything ground-breaking, but it's very cleanly executed. The standouts for me are 'Set it Off' 'DMT' and 'Breeze' 'forest fires'. Anyhow, what I find surprising is that the full album has 1,358,840 views on youtube. I haven't found tracked the source but apparently XXYYXX called himself the head of the illuminati, lol, and I'm not sure if that has anything to do with the proportionally larger amount of listeners (as opposed to most of this type of music) he has acquired, but either way I find it interesting to read all these comments from electronic music virgins who have stumbled onto this and having their minds rearranged. It's pretty awesome that stuff like this is reaching a much larger audience, don't you think? Hoodie
he's a sixteen year old (maybe seventeen now?) kid from orlando. saw him live last year @ will's pub and he acted like a twat, mumbling bitchy remarks about the stage equipment between every song. i had him liked on facebook because i did enjoy his music, but then he started making posts with the same nasty attitude. i hate it, but the way someone carries themselves really does affect how much i enjoy their music. Salvatorin
Well I don't blame him if he doesn't know how to act. In the music world today you can have millions of people listening to your music today and in a year have everyone forget about you. It's really a rather confusing ordeal innit. awepittance
i feel like it's the duty of every musician referencing DMT in their music to make it much weirder and psychedelic than what we have here, just my opinion obviously but after being told i would 'like' Run DMT i believe i have the authority to make this proclamation. I bet a lot of it is the simple fact that he's a 17 year old male. I think about myself at that age and up til about 21 or 22 and I don't like it. I think most boys just suck at that age. He'll hopefully just outgrow it. On 1/20/2013 at 5:27 PM, Salvatorin said: It's a pretty tight, if somewhat sparse album. Especially when you're known as XXYYXX. It's good but as said earlier, there's almost nothing memorable about it. I think that whole aesthetic is quite played out right now and like you said he's the one producer whose managed to become the entryway for a lot of casual listeners to witch house/trap/beat music, etc. On 1/21/2013 at 5:30 AM, Salvatorin said: On 1/21/2013 at 3:54 AM, Awepittance said: i feel like it's the duty of every musician referencing DMT in their music to make it much weirder and psychedelic than what we have here, just my opinion obviously but after being told i would 'like' Run DMT i believe i have the authority to make this proclamation. yeah I really have to wonder if these people have even taken dmt shpongle has the rights to that drug in sonic form, i know, cheesy, but it's old guard by now There's two Run DMT producers - one is a pretty good lo-fi/glo-fi in the same vein as Sun Araw or James Ferraro and the other is some brostep-ish duo. One of the members is Parson who actually put out some decent old dubstep including a 12" on Planet Mu. Also RunDMT is some blog by some mom about running I found 3 minutes ago. I'm an optimist about all that but the change it's having on kids is undeniable and overwhelming. Kids are still kids though - I think the internet and social media simply exaggerates and accelerates their personalities: At stores I've seen 10 year old girls texting and wearing makeup and inappropriate clothing and I've seen girls of the same age running around the toy, book, and video game sections with utter enthusiasm. It just seems to reveal personalities faster - AND show whose doing a better job at parenting.
