I was listening to Rob Hall's Erratica Extensia mix and one of my favourite tunes in there I found was Terminal Orange by o9. I'd not been familiar with this until I checked Discogs for albums and saw Church of the Ghetto PC, which for some reason I remember years back ChenGOD saying was one of the best albums released on Schematic.

ANYWAY I checked it out and yes, this is a fantastic album and one of the best IDM releases out IMO. Dripping with plenty of ideas, rough beats and lush melodies etc etc I highly recommend anybody who hasn't heard this album already to give it a listen.

Anybody who is familiar I recommend you listen again, come back here and discuss it. Also let's discuss where the fuck o9 is since this album appeared!

Here are a couple of tracks to get newbies started:

This album is nine years old now. Time's flying!

Yes, it's a wonderful album. He apparently released this in 2009 as well.

Right, I've checked it out and it's amazingly shit. Why would anyone decide to make an acid album when they've shown they've already got much more range? How boring.

yeah that album is incredible. I remember this and Secret Frequency Crew's Forest of the Echo Downs coming out around the same, both underrated!

I've been on a hunt for all of his stuff for years but it proves a little difficult.

Found this track on a compilation from 2001 recently. It's nice:

Checking this out and you're right, it's fantastic. Another artist that mysteriously disappeared after an album.

Was there a cull of IDM artists in 2004 or something?

Church of the Ghetto P.C. is great. One of the albums that really got me into this electronic music stuff. He had a free EP a few years back, Unsettled EP. I can't find that online at the moment, but this WATMM thread has links to other free releases of his: http://forum.watmm.com/topic/65082-o9-unsettled-ep/

I dig this album. Haven't checked out his other stuff under names besides o9. I also dig the album he was hosting on 09.ath.cx (can't remember what it's called now) and Symbol Sickness, which has some really gorgeous moments.

It would be criminal not to post o9's best track in here:

In fact, if you like this stuff you really should check out the Schematic compilations from the turn of the millennium:

Lily of the Valley (best), Ischemic Folks, and Well-Suited For General-Purpose Audio Work (mainly for the Phoenecia tracks on the last one).

Autechre Rule - Queen are Shite

definitely a classic album. I guess his glen velez remix never ended up on external combustion (or maybe he just took forever with it) finally ended up on some schematic comp in 2010 and it's just so fucking amazing.

I guess some terminal green ep came out at some point with original versions of green and yellow.... well like, they mostly sound similar. but like this 23 minute version of terminal green doesn't especially sound like the one on the album... but its 23 minutes, so, thats pretty great to jam with.

Schematic releases a lot of hidden gems. At least it's easier to get their newer releases thanks to bandcamp.

yea he uses trackers. been using sunvox recently I think. He may release some mods/tracker files as part of a full discography dvd, but he's still working out those details atm

It does seem like there was a 2nd wave of idm from like 2001-2005 ish huh?
