Help me with a Mix - 90's industrial dance

I used to listen to rock radio as a youngster in the late 80's/early 90's, and I remember the Saturday night shows that would be more industrial/dance/goth. I want to make a mix of that stuff but I don't know that music well enough to know the good tracks.

So, here's what I've got so far:

Revolting Cocks - Beers, Steers, and Queers

Ministry - Every Day is Halloween

Nitzer Ebb - Join In the Chant

early electro would fit with my vision for the mix as well.

Recommend some similar tracks and share your vast music knowledge.

Thank you for your help in this very important matter.

Quite a bit by Revolting Cocks (check out the album 'Linger Ficken' Good... And Other Barnyard Oddities' ). Here's another track that's quite representative of their sound

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

through the years, a man peoples a space with images of provinces, kingdoms, mountains, bays, ships, islands, fishes, rooms, tools, stars, horses and people. shortly before his death, he discovers that the patient labyrinth of lines traces the image of his own face.

Not sure if the BPM of this one would be too high for the mix -

For those on here that know my music tastes you may be surprised to learn that this is one of my favourite tracks of all time - bloody love it, feels like I've drank about a dozen coffees every time I hear it.

Plus it's the only track I know that features cd/digital jitter (I think that's what it's called, the high pitched glitchy noises in the background for example around 1:07 - 2:07, though most prevalent at 6:20 - 6:28)

Great, that remix is remarkable, just like the whole album. I recommend to listen to the lost remixes by Coil:

Woah, that's great - always loved the track anyway but that remix just pushes things over the edge. It sounds like something by The Orb circa Orblivion (my favourite era of theirs). Thanks for linking it man !

I'll los a bunch of albums that are stuffed with great tracks...

Pigface - "Gub" / "washing machine mouth" / "fook".

(Standout tracks are: "bushmaster", "weightless", "war Icht nicht...", satellite: needle in the groove", "hips, tits, lips, power")

My life with the thrill kill kult - "confessions of the knife"

(Standout tracks are: "days of swine and roses", "daisy chain for satan")

Kmfdm - "naive/hell to go"

(Standout tracks are: "Virus", "godlike")

Ministry - "the mind is a terrible thing to taste" / land of rape and honey" / "in case you didn't feel like showing up (live)"

(Standout tracks are: "flashback", "stigmata", "thieves", "burning inside ")

SKinny puppy - "last rights"

Wampscut - "the dried blood of Gomorrah"

(Standout track: "Black Death: French concept"

Dead voices on air - "hafted maul"

Coil - "loves secret domain"

(Standout tracks are: "snow", "answered come in dreams", "windowpane", "further back and faster", "Teenage lightning")

Godflesh - "selfless" / "streetcleaner"

Meat beat manifesto - "subliminal sandwich"

Also, Fear Factory's remix album "fear is the mindkiller" is pretty solid.

You're welcome!

I'd also recommend to take a look at haujobb production, especially Solutions for a Small Planet (someone konws this band because of wumpscut remix):

Is that haujobb in any way releated to the demoscene group of the same name ? -

Mm, I think they are different bands, I only remember Haujobb as a German project from 90s that still continues to release records. That's all I know.

i've largely fell out with anything NIN related, but fixed was always one of my favorites, and it's been maybe years since i've listened to that track, but i must say, fucking awesome track oscilllik.

the Broken era, to me, has always been the most 'sinister' sounding of all his music.

I'd play Quake while listening to Broken era tracks, quite often. and the way it gels with the game is so perfect. maybe it's me, I dunno. but it really does fit very well. not to do a disservice to the original soundtrack for Quake, which is probably one of the best industrial soundscape albums I've heard (along with Ben Frost's By The Throat).

but yeah, that track is pretty relentless. i've always loved that track, and it never gets old.

i actually got fixed before broken, and i liked both but always favored the hypnotic, repetitive, and demented remixes on fixed. i also think the quake soundtrack was amazing and fit the atmosphere in the game perfectly. i've never played a game that instilled that same sense of abandonment, desolation, isolation, claustrophobia, and just general creepiness. even playing online, you might be on a server after midnight, everyone leaves and it's just you, waiting for someone to pop on. just you and those creepy maps and ambient sounds etc.

anyway, great stuff.
