Achieving a super thick and evil saw bass

A perfect example would be the bass sound in John B - Up All Night, I woulda guessed it would be all about detuning, layering and distortion, but I don't really have a clue :heart: :on2long: :nuke: :phone:

Sounds about right... try making two copies of your bass, highpass one and lowpass the other. That way you can distort the high frequencies to get the rough, raw sound, but leave the bass clear and pummeling. Bo!

you need 2 oscillators, one detuned at about 1/3 of the other, but you really need to turn the knob until its right, theres a very distinctive moment were it goes BRRRAAWWWWWWAAARRRRWWWWWWWAAA

and a 24/36 db filter is important.
