Traktor DJ For iPad :O

Recommended Posts

Totally worth the $20. I picked it up a couple days ago. It's rock solid, pretty intuitive, and the freeze functionality is perhaps just shy of superb.

Okay I downloaded. Its good but not great. For basic 4/4 (house/techno/dubstep) stuff syncing is fine but for anything else its seems really hard. Tried a couple of funk tracks but it just drifts in and out of time which is not much use for djing. Am I missing something?

Maybe you shouldn't rely on Traktor's BPM detector that much...

Yeah I realise that but I want to be able to manual beat warp tracks like in Ableton but there seems to be no way of doing it which limits the tunes you play. This is why I got frustrated with Traktor in the past. At least with DJay for the Ipad you can nudge tracks which is really helpful.

You mean you can't speed it up or slow it down enough? You can change the amount you can pitch your tracks in the settings in Traktor.

Oh my, fast forward to about 5:00 and you'll find that to be exactly the case - Surely that's a pretty big oversight ...

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

If you're mixing stuff that was played with live instruments, yes, you're going to have a lot of trouble. Most DJ software doesn't go that deep into beat-mapping tracks as most stuff that DJs play was made on a computer and thus once you know what BPM the song is, you're pretty much good to go.

Stuff played by a live band will have naturally drifting tempo since the musicians aren't perfect and/or they alter the tempo slightly here and there.
