tec
Bit of a simple topic but there are enough film nerds here to hopefully make it worthwhile. What are your favourite steadicam shots? Though I didn't think much of the film itself this from Atonement is quite special. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5dqmUgu0SI Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide tec's signature Hide all signatures "They're about guns, lasers, robots with laser guns in space. Joe Wright's cinematography in Pride and Prejudice is absolutely lovely too, lot of ridiculously gorgeous shots in terms of lighting and there's a neat steadicam shot concluding one of the ball scenes. That part was great, especially as a realistic battle scene, but for me the whole car attack scene takes the cake. I mean, just, FUCK! Spoiler because the sceenshot is a bit revealing plot wise. joshuatxuk
Whoa! Apparently there's a steadicam scene archive, sorted by film and cinematographer: http://www.steadishots.org/ Found it when I was looking for examples from Full Metal Jacket, which are far shorter than those in Children of Men but similar in effectiveness as battle scenes. granty
This is the one that blows my mind - imagine the logistics involved in getting this together. I realised after watching this a few times that they do a circular lap of the kitchen for no reason whatsoever, even though it's meant to be a shortcut into the club: Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide granty's signature Hide all signatures instagram.com/lo_five_ Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/78033-steadicam-joy/#findComment-1968342 Share on other sites
Guest Pennywise
That's something I'd watch in a film and not notice. Pretty impressive. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/78033-steadicam-joy/#findComment-1968359 Share on other sites
joshuatxuk
One of my favorite shots is in Empire of Sun, where Jim arrives at the camp/airfield, but I can't find it on youtube. This one is fucking epic, as is the whole film and Coppola himself has a neat cameo (one of the few clever/tasteful cameos in a movie): Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide joshuatxuk's signature Hide all signatures Tape Escape! Braintree
I always liked the scene in Alien 3 where they were trying to trap the alien, and the camera was from the alien's perspective. Looked really cool when it would shift to the ceiling and along the wall.
