I've completely blown my budget this month and I expect this one will be sold out by the time I can afford it, but the wonderful Conet Project has been re-released with an additional CD, 80 page booklet and postcards - http://boomkat.com/cds/676374-various-the-conet-project-recordings-of-shortwave-numbers-stations-expanded-5cd-edition

For those that don't know what this is, it's a compilation of recordings from various Number Stations, an example of which is this:

I remember first hearing about this project about 10 years ago and got totally freaked out by the concept of it all

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

I DL'd the 4-disc version this morning for free by signing up for a free trial at Audible.co.uk (via a link from my Amazon account).

It's split into two huge tracks and is in some weird format that I've never used before but it plays fine in iTunes and saves me digging out my old MP3s which are archived on a DVD god-knows-where.

Listening to this stuff has a curiously meditative effect on me. The vocal snippets have a mechanical rhythm which can send you into a trance pretty easily.

Same, although I seem to recall reading about it either before or around the release of MHTRTC. In fact, I think it was an early Napster grab for me, probably by virtue of the file sizes being small, and quicker to download than full music tracks during the dial-up days!

It's a nice looking set, good to see it get a reissue, with an extra disc's worth of recordings too.

OOoh, found a cheaper way of getting it (well, downloading it) and funding the project directly - http://www.pledgemusic.com/projects/tcp1111

Did you actually get to download it yet? I bought the £8 download, but I can't find any download link. I don't know how this works.

Unfortunately no, according to the project page it still has a release date of TBC so I'm not entirely sure how Boomkat have it to purchase already. I think once it's ready we'll either get download links directly into our email inbox, or we get them from the login page ( https://www.pledgemusic.com/sign_in )

I ordered this from Boomkat within seconds of reading their email advertising it. Got me into yet more debt but glad about it today when I opened it up. Always wanted the 4 CD version, ace booklet and postcards chucked in and so far the fifth CD sounds like discarded demos for Confield. Pardon my jazz, but anyone know why the bonus CD is dedicated to B.C. Gilbert (presumably he formerly of Wire)?

The Conet Project is indeed some intriguing shit... I had an obsession with UVB-76 for a while, that keeps getting reignited every so often, apparently it was pretty active in January, I listened in for a bit to the frequency and you could hear odd speaking in the background and someone rustling with papers and such.

Any domestic (US) shops carrying this yet?

Damnit, I didn't properly read it: "We have uploaded the FLAC and MP3 package to Pledge Music, in preparation for release. We are aiming to push the button this Friday"

I have the original - excellent compilation of really creepy stuff. DO NOT listen to this in the dark late at night.

Ah good, I thought I was the one who misread/misinterpreted it.

Somehow seems appropriate to download these pieces at 96kbps. I'd be intrigued to try and find these on an old shortwave radio, can't lay my hands on one though and I'd be afraid to be flagged by MI5 by buying one through Amazon.

I can 2nd this... I once tried listening to it at night to fall asleep while being sleep deprived (I have no idea why I thought this was a good idea), an overwhelming sense of paranoia crept over me, nightmare fuel

Buying the boxed set once pay day rolls in tomorrow.
