berndspring1974
a few informations about the "GEMA" a german licensing company. copy/pasting: Quote You might not know that Germany has officially joined the ranks of countries that now has a Digital DJ License. German law and the german licensing company, GEMA, make things a bit more complicated than you might expect. So, this is your chance to catch up, or have a laugh, whatever you prefer. ... Quote you are not allowed to tell GEMA what tracks you actually play, so there will be no chance, that any of the money you are supposed to pay, will ever end up in the hands of the artists you support. Still with me? Ok. So how would you pay this you might ask? GEMA imagines you will make a contract with them, that might even enable them to look through your computer, just in case you did anything wrong. Yes, we think this is strange too. read the whole thing here http://de-bug.de/musik/10423.html Edited March 15, 2013 by panz0r Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/78076-open-letter-to-all-djs-playing-in-germany/ Share on other sites

Ego Posted March 15, 2013 Report Share Edit Hide Delete Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) We need a pirate party to get SABAM, Auvibel, Buma/Stemra, GEMA etc. back in line. The amount of poisonous legislation they have realised is mind boggling and has to reverted asap. We have to pay money to our Belgian copyright trolls when: - playing the radio at work or even when an employee is using an MP3 player at work to listen to his own music - buying any blank media (edit: apparently this "private copying levy" is pretty common in other countries as well, wtf) - using a small fragment of music in a quiz - playing music at a public event where the artists played are not registered at SABAM or don't even exist Edited March 15, 2013 by Ego Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/78076-open-letter-to-all-djs-playing-in-germany/#findComment-1969421 Share on other sites

Guest dese manz hatin
Fuck GEMA. They didn't get their ridiculous as fuck regulations for clubs (which would have made the fees clubs had to pay rise by up to 1000%, and sometimes more) and now they're trying this bullshit? Yeah real great job m8s. Just when Germany managed to establish one of the best electronic music scenes in the world you decide to try and fuck it up again. Guest Atom Dowry Firth
This is very silly. I've noticed American media companies seem to be blocking more and more Youtube content too (at least for the UK anyway). Really, limiting their audience is the most retarded thing they could possibly be doing at this point Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/78076-open-letter-to-all-djs-playing-in-germany/#findComment-1969535 Share on other sites
Ego Posted March 15, 2013 Report Share Edit Hide Delete Posted March 15, 2013 (edited) Are GEMA blocking German content or also international content? If they are blocking international content, what is the reasoning for that? They're not the not the rights holders are they? Is it just bullying people away from the internet to traditional media? Is it just bullying people away from the internet to traditional media? International as well. To my knowledge, SONY, UMG, BMG are all blocked, which is already a lot considering their size. There are more though. PS.: To anyone suffering from this problem: search for the addon "proxtube" which circumvents blocked videos. AFAIK available for both firefox and chrome.
