Top 3 fave video Game tracks

Recommended Posts

Guest Pennywise

post your top 3 favourite video game tracks.

They have to be from different games.

Purely because I can't feel sad around it

It's the first track you hear ingame and it's incredible.

lazy choice, I got fed up with trying to find something that wasn't from FF7

That Panzer Dragon song is really cool.

This is incredibly difficult, so I'll post the first three that come to my mind.

Yuzo Koshiro - Dance Club - Streets of Rage 3

The sweet strobe effects on the genesis really added to it.

Illreme - KURU KURU ROCK - Katamari Damacy

Most of the Katamari music is perfect, and impossible for me to choose just one (Katamari Mambo, and the main theme are also amazing). The high female voices that sing with Illreme's rapping is beautiful.

Peter McConnell - Compañeros - Grim Fandango

Baroque + Latin = Lovely. Used as the music playing in an outdoor Day of the Dead festival.

Tomas Dvorak - By The Wall instantly came to mind. The machinarium soundtrack, which got lush vinyl treatment, is easily my favorite vg music since it is one of my favorite albums altogether. Chose this cut because it was my favorite sequence in the game, real emotional

Masafumi takada - Emoticon. Killer 7 is such a strange yet stylish game, and this track brings me back to that world

Koji Kondo - Zoras Domain. Kind of obvious/classic this soundtrack, the sounds of my childhood. Always loved the chilled out vibe on this track. I use it as backing music when I talk on my radio show for 'ice lounge' vibes

^for Koji Kondo, it was hard to choose between Zoras Domain and Inside the Deku Tree, as the latter sounds like it could be cut from Selected Ambient Works II

Isn't this like 1000th video game music related thread?

Anyway.. I feel like I always post these three, but they are the pinnacle of video game soundtracks in my book:

Wow...only three...this is going to be rather damn fucking difficult. Instead of top, I'll list what I can think of quickly of what I like listening to.

Resident Evil 2 OST - Secure Place ~ Save Room Theme:

We Love Katamari Soundtrack - Houston:

Dead Rising 2 OST - The Peep Hole:

Dead Rising 2 Randy's Theme:

Been playing lots of Red Dead Redemption lately, and it makes me SO sad that so much of the brilliant and beautiful, absolutely beautiful, music from the game isn't available on the album.

This almost made my top 3.

badazz

Love that tune. Zombie Corpseplay is almost Redemption in Dub's bastard zombie child

Ahh memories. I bloody loved my Amiga! :'(

All of the above picked more for the memories of the time they evoke than the quality I guess.

I forgot about Sonic the Hedgehog. 1 through Knuckles were all fantastic. I loved this bassy one.

I absolutely loved the Sonic 3D Blast soundtrack for the Sega Saturn. Level 2's music for each zone would be a remix of Level 1's. It sounds pretty dated now, but I remember being 7 years old and listening to the tracks in the BGM settings.

totally agree with these first 2. While playing Limbo i remember quite a few tracks recalled Tim Hecker. And the Mass Effect galaxy map tune is an instant classic, so perfect

So this is just one, The whole area of this map is awesome, ESPECIALLY at the 4:01 mark. There are some battle sequences in there but those can be skipped over.
