Guest fiznuthian
So I was driving home from a hike on a local mountain and a song came on our local college radio.. i liked it and turned up the volume quite a bit..I fucking loved it!Turns out the band is called Wye Oak, a duo from Baltimore. Not sure if this will be WATMM worthy and I might embarrass myself even suggesting them, but I totally dig it. Grr.. the first video is what hooked me.. Can't get it to embed. joshuatxuk
Good stuff! There's no reason to be ashamed to like this kind of music. Hell, I like Of Monsters and Men and Band of Horses and to some extent even Lumineers and Mumford and Sons despite being WAY played out. You'd probably like Lower Dens and Beach House if you like the female vocals. There's a lot of good stuff that's not quite country, not quite indie rock, not quite singer-songwriter that I always like hearing. I'm afraid to say I follow many of them very closely but my local NPR affiliate station KUT plays this kind of stuff a lot. I guess Wye Oak appealed to me somehow.. the songwriting is pretty solid. She's a good singer too, or fits the music anyway. And wow that is a good kinks cover :) Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/78171-wye-oak/#findComment-1974860 Share on other sites
