Npoess
http://www.factmag.com/2013/03/26/john-roberts-announces-details-of-new-album-fences/ Quote Dial’s John Roberts has announced full details of the follow-up to 2010′s blissful Glass Eights. The Ohio-born house producer has continued to turn out new music over the last two years, releasing the twisty Paper Frames EP in 2012 and remixing the likes of Blondes and Motor City Drum Ensemble. He’s also pursued his literary muse, working as co-editor of arts magazine The Travel Almanac. As Resident Advisor note, full details of his sophomore LP have now arrived. The album will be titled Fences, and will feature 10 new tracks from the producer. As per fellow Dial alumnus Pantha Du Prince’s Black Noise, Fences promises to be something of an audio travelogue, with different tracks documenting various locations on Roberts’ travels. Found sound and field recordings feature heavily: “a beach in Cannes” “a parade in Tokyo” and “a cedar soaking tub overflowing in Kyoto” are among the sound sources namechecked by the producer. Roberts promises a coherent and delicately crafted record: “I loved revisiting all of the recordings and trying to remember where they were from (some just sounded like white noise), re-recording them, EQing, mangling and combining them. With this album I really wanted to consciously attempt to channel the feeling of certain experiences from recently visited places that stuck with me for one reason or another, so all of the tracks were produced for this record specifically and are meant to be listened to in the order in which they appear.” Snippets from the album are available to stream below, and point towards a pricklier, more polyrhythmic record than its predecessor. Fences is due on May 27 on Dial. http://soundcloud.com/1800johnroberts/fences-lp-preview Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Npoess's signature Hide all signatures │ Tumblr │ Last.fm │ Soundcloud │ Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/78201-john-roberts-fences/ Share on other sites

Guest Lucy Faringold
Glass Eights was a big deal for me but I'm not feeling these samples much on first listen. Will try again in a few days.
