Music similar to early Steve Roach?

I need some vintage synth music similar to Steve Roach's early works (Now/Traveler, Structures From Silence, Quiet Music 1-3, Empetus). And I'm not thinking of that cheesy new age'y music he started making after '89.

Something similar to these:

well obvious ones that come to mind are klaus schulze : body love and tangerine dream's Risky Business soundtrack. There are other things they've done that have this style but to be honest this early Steve Roach stuff is really cool and specific, in some ways it reminds me more of retro fetishized 80s stuff you would hear people making today. Good find

Yeah.. Tangerine and Schulze definitely has "that" sound. But I was hoping to find something a little more obscure, maybe something I haven't heard before.

Really good suggestion though. I haven't heard the Risky Business soundtrack before, I should probably give that a listen.

yeah the Risky Business is probably the closest thing I can think of to those examples you posted above. TD has done bits here and there on various mid 80s movie soundtracks in a similar style but never all in one place like Risky Business

I haven't really dived into Vangelis catalouge yet.

I've only heard the Blade Runner and the Antarctica soundtracks (which are both amazing of course).

Please tell me you know more like this :emb:

re: Ceerial. Well i ended up downloading almost every early Roach album and I'm pretty sure that almost nothing out there, at least from that era sounds super close to what he was doing. Risky Business soundtrack is pretty close, but even that is lacking in the very straight forward clean crisp and surgical production style he uses. Anyways just wanted to say thanks for exposing me to his stuff, I would have never checked it out otherwise

Awesome.

Always happy to expose people to new music. I didn't consider Steve Roach's music as my kind of music, until I heard Empetus. That's a serious underrated masterpiece.

@soundwave

That Jean Michel Jarre sounds pretty good. I actually kind of forgot I own a copy of both Oxygene ‎and Equinoxe. I have to give them a proper listen one of these days.
