photography/artwork subforum for general banter?

Recommended Posts

considering the popularity of 'pictures you took that you're pleased with' and 'post your most recent artwork', i was thinking a subforum for this stuff inside genbant like the football one mightn't be a bad idea. we could split stuff into topics like nature photography, abstract, 3d renders, photomanipulation, architecture, HDR images, that sort of stuff! what say ye?

yes

yeah this is a fucking great idea.

We're artists, pretty much everyone who makes the kind of weirdo music we like/make delves into other medias.

This forum should be about creativity, and creative works shouldn't have to live next to stupid internet humor and the whinging of neurotics and bickerers.

edit: videos should have a section/thread to itself as part of this. pretty sure there are lots of people here who do video.

subforums are evil.

the cool thing about genban is that it feels like walking into some kind of carnival with various stands and attractions, splitting some of those attractions away to different subforums will make it less colorful and take away from the feeling of community a bit. football subfoum makes sense because there are like 3-5 people who want to talk about football, with arts its different, pretty much everyone is interested in it.

besides, what would you do in that subforum that you can't do in existing topics ?

Shall we put it to a poll? I agree there's enough film, video games, books, and art discussions to warrant their own subforum, but on the other hand, then what would General Banter be? Or, is it better to have the creative stuff in a place where people looking for specifically that can discuss it?

This

Do you guys think a sub forum will provoke more participation to art sharing or less? I have no idea, it could go either way.

www.petergaber.com is where I keep my paintings. I used to have a kinky tumblr, but it exploded.

Probably more intimidating for the new user, but a better atmosphere with more feedback for the regular.

There will be new love from the ashes of us.

I'd prefer the art/creativity threads to be a free for all in genban. I fear we'd end up with a handfull of people checking out and posting the diy art subforum, while the rest of us forget to head in there to check the stuff out. YLC isn't the most inspiring of places, which I guess is the most similar place we have to what an art subforum could be.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

if there's only 3-5 people talking about football i don't think it warrants a subforum. it was created during the world cup when there was lots of football chat... i mean me, jules and couple others like talking chairs but a single thread in genban seems to be sufficient.

but i also like adj's idea of expanding YLC to include other artistic media.
