A game for my mom

So, my mom has been playing solitaire poker the last few months and I asked her if she wanted to play something new and better and she went yes. So I started thinking that there are like a million games out there, but I never played any of those sunday ones, that are basically made for housewives.

 

Can you suggest some for me? She is not too bright a person, but not stupid either. She clicks really slow, so no action. She probably hates violence and porn so don't go there...

 

It would be better if it was a standalone game then a browser one, though it's not that big a problem.

Well, if solitaire card games are her thing Solitude for Windows is pretty amazing. It contains 91 solitaire games. (I haven't verified the link, but I have played the game in the past).

My favorite is "Bowling Solitaire", which was made by big-name board game developer Sid Sackson.

It might be a little too leftfield but only requires slow clicking and logic skills rather than any prior knowledge or quick reflexes -

QUENTO is a fun little math game, you need Android/iOS/Windows 8/RT/Mac OS to run it though

there is a game on miniclip called motherload that is quite fun, you dig for jewels.

My mom, after I left home, took my original Gameboy with Tetris (I bought it on launch) and played the crap out of it, all the way up until she passed away. She loved Tetris, and played it on my old NES, Gameboy Advance SP, and later on emulators on my Mac. Tetris is a good game for older people since it keeps your reflexes sharp and keeps your mind engaged.

 

You might also consider Shanghai, Su Do Ku, or Othello/Reversi.

Your mom sounds like my mom, Gaarg. She plays some shitty online games that she links to through MSN or something. She also plays some Mahjongg game. Last time I visited her, I let her borrow my tablet, and she played this game called Pudding Monsters. She now wants me to buy her a tablet.
