Dawn Chorus

Hope this doesn't sound too bizarre:

DC is one of my fave tracks. The more I hear it, the more I seem to hear a melted-down and warped version of Len's "Steal My Sunshine"

Nothing overt here, sample wise or anything. Just a certain feeling I get when I listen to it. And I can't shake it no matter how often I hear it.

I believe this is the track where they sampled porn, is it not? That would explain the moan. There is still something there though. Something that reminds me of that annoying Len tune. The rhythm of the vocal line or something jingly underneath...pardon the less-than-profound language. It's hard to put into words.

It's probably just me, but then again that's one of the reasons I admire boc. Everyone seems to hear something different. They're like a musical Rorschach

No, I think you're on your own there.

The track that appears to sample porn is Rodox Video. As it also is named after a porn company this would not be surprising.

Well, the spoken word in sixtyniner hasn't been identified (to my knowledge) but it doesn't sound like porn to me.

As for Julie and Candy- Fredd-E's site says it's from Season Of The Witch which definitely isn't porn.

i disagree....don't hear any porn influence in dawn chorus at all. most of it sounds like little kids to me.

from 1:30 to 2:00 it's painfully obvious that they sampled a porn film. the sound repeats over itself but i mean, come on. are we talking about the same song here?

Nobody has mentioned it anywhere I've looked, but I believe there's a Jane's Addiction sample in Dawn Chorus. Will have to check at what time precisely when I get home.

i dunno about the exact origins of all the samples in this track, but this tracks warps my brain everytime i hear it, intensely psychedelic shit... one of the best bits of the album, imo..

The original "Very Important Thought" off BoC Maxima was sampled from a porn film, as (apparently) was the long speech in Sixtyniner. Of course, there may be others.

Can you provide any evidence for this? It's the first time I've heard it.

I admit the reference to "obscenity trial" in OVIT adds weight to the idea.

IMO this sounds like a sample of Moby's Porcelain with gratuitous wow and flutter and other tape/analog degradation...I'm not saying it is but it's similar imo. Lot of music I've heard that's influenced by BOC seems akin to Dawn Chorus in particular, like Lone's stuff for example.

To me it sounds like a very heavily altered rework of 5d. The samples all have the same swirling and pulsating feeling to them, and the drum rhythm feels very similar.
