anyone know a good courier service in UK for synths?

I'm selling a synth to someone who lives in london, im in newcastle. Does anyone know of a courier service who deal in synth delivery or whatnot? Any help appreciated.

It's all in the packaging. I had my pristine D-50 shipped from about 100 miles away, fortunately it came with a custom flight case. The guy I bought it from packaged it to within an inch of it's life, but you can never be too careful. Used heavily insured Parcelforce, and it turned up just fine. Short of driving it there yourself, it's just luck of the draw as to how careful the delivery driver is. Avoid anything like Yodel/HDN/similar at all costs though.

Avoid Yodel and all should be fine, they are hopelessly bad.

Yeah, ParcelForce are about the best of a bad bunch.... Had bad experiences with DHL, UPS and Yodel.

afaik parcelforce insurance doesn't cover musical instruments

check the small print or have a go at seeing how to go about claiming money, then you will easily see how difficult it can be

it's worth putting a lot of effort into packaging, saves a lot of headaches and comebacks

if the package is too cumbersome or heavy for one person, try to make handles out of tape or something that will help the delivery man to carry the item without dropping it

if the synth has a battery slot, test it with batteries, even if it worked 1 year ago

if you never use a PSU but it has a PSU slot, test it with a PSU

if it's a 303, you dont want it to be wrapped up for too long because the memory chip pins dont like it ;-)
