I'm going to have to take a guess and say fake.

I'd never buy them because my gut says fake, even if they were like $50

If they are ripped I just hope it's through a good a tape deck, a 3-head or a Nakamichi. It can be 24bit and 96khz .wav and still sound like shit if they rip it with a walkman or crappy boombox cassette player.

I have it on good authority that Mike is actually the lost third member of the group. These tapes were part of the recruitment process. In order to be in BOC you have to be able to make BOC on your own, and pass it off without anyone noticing.
