Autechre Discography Run-through

Recommended Posts

Thinking of playing the whole Autechre discography in a matter of 2 to 3 days. I feel like i'll hear there recent material in a different light with the older material still fresh in my mind.

Have any of you ever done this? Im kind of afraid of losing grasp of reality and subsequent head explosion

surely that would have to be a non-stop listening session for those 2-3 (possibly more) days?

Quite often I have an autechre week when i listen to nothing but Autechre and try and get through as much of their Discography as possible. Its easier to do just with Albums but then you wil miss so much juicy stuff from the E.P's!

Just before the release of Exai I listened to Confield, Draft and Untilted back to back in 1 sitting.. which was proper nice them 3 work so well as a trilogy

My Autechre collection spans two days, seven hours and twenty three minutes. Although a massive chunk of that is the latest webcast they did. Some days I work on art at my desk literally all day where I may end up listening to music for ten plus hours. I could never sit and listen to bangin' chunes for that long with out other stimulation.

All of the official albums and EPs, their "main" discography amounts to 29 hours, counting Quaristice era misc. (eps and spec.ed. versions) and no remixes/comp tracks

I've done something similar over a long weekend pre-Quaristice.

electro mini-album Megacity Rainfall
"cacas in igne, heus"  - Emperor Nero, AD 64

that's surprising. I was expecting more hours there

Many times I've listened to 4 or 5 hours worth of BoC in chronological order.

One sitting?

Yes.

Admittedly the music wasn't always the primary focus. Poker sessions and such.

So i finished going through all the albums and i have to say, listening to Autechre in succession really lets you hear the music in a different light. It sort of redefined how i look at the albums. For instance, i actually discovered i like Chiastic Slide more than Tri Repetae (please dont shoot me). Hearing Chiastic right after listening to the one previous made Chiastic sound a bit more refined than Tri. I also never realized how much I like Draft 7.30, it's up there in the top 3 favorite autechre albums. I think i'll save an EP run for another time since i kinda OD'd on Autechre for right now

I used to do twelve hour shifts and listen to Autechre a lot then. The most I ever listened to was albums Chiastic Slide through to Oversteps in one shift.

When I decided to get into Autechre, which wasn't too long ago it took about 3 months to 'get' and like everything.
