probably a consequence of hearing it in this manner, i.e. played through his comp speakers, recorded in relatively low quality, uploaded/compressed, then played back to you via your headphones or comp speakers.

 

That's what I thought, just wanted to make sure I didn't need to go out and get the vinyl and a preposterous sound system just to hear it properly, despite the temptation.
