I think it was mentioned in a magazine interview years and years ago but I honestly don't know for sure. =(

Mike&Rich?

Hopefully thats not too much of a giveaway...

Nah. I think WATMM or another forum dubbed the Mike and Rich CD as EKT but the name originated somewhere else...?

Not really. I have the Mike and Rich CD here and it only says Mike and Rich, not EKT. Expert knob twiddlers is an unofficial nickname given to the album but I don't recall from where. It may have been on these forums I'm not sure.

the plot thickens. :0

I always figured that hey, this cool album has this bottom-right-corner subtitle (which may or not be the real title) that tongue-in-cheekly describes the IDM music making scene.

Am I overthinking this?

I think you might be overthinking it a bit =) lol.

Heres the best I could get from the discog:

Fans of the album and record stores have adopted the unofficial title of this release as "Expert Knob Twiddlers", while Mike Paradinas, the cover of the Japanese CD version, and the catalog included inside Caustic Window "Compilation" have confirmed that the official title of Mike & Rich is just "Mike & Rich".

but I distinctly remember reading it in a magazine or interview that the name originated in a forum or something. =/

All things considered, it was either the album or someone referring to the album that makes it "expert knob twiddlers". I can't find any reference to anything other than WATMM or the Mike and Rich CD that would be "expert knob twiddlers".

so you did good =)

i thought it was the official subtitle, if its not did someone photoshop onto that image? If thats not photoshopped then wouldn't it have to be official in some capacity? Even if its not on one of the CD iterations, seems pretty obvious to me.

It's on the CD cover.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

From this brilliant collab album, (Which would be fucking awesome if they did it again!)

My personal favorite off the album is "Vodka" that track feels like the audio itself is drunk.

If I remember, Mike said Richard was feeding him vodka the whole time they were recording, until he passed out. You guys get a blue ribbon, I didn't realize ETK was spelled out here on the forum until after I posted this thread, doh!
