For OSX users, I've used http://www.telestream.net/screenflow/ in the past for screencasting and found it quite nice to work with.

May take a stab at this --- is there anything in particular people want covered? Or just like "here's my whacky stupid workflow that works for me".

Maybe this should have its own Youtube channel? Each member would just pick a specific topic and make a 5-minute video or something.

And it could be like "Hey everyone this is So-and-so from WATMMchopsTM and today we're gonna talk about such-and-such."

I wanted to do tracking tutorials here for a long time, but I can't get decent latency recording my voice in camtasia as I have to use directsound drivers (asio drivers can't be shared between two programs). Un-doable with the latency, and I have to use headphones, as recording without will result in feedback with the audio running through the mic in circles.

Maybe instead of screen capturing, recording off screen with a hd recorder can also give decent results? Than mix it up with original sound in Sony Vegas, but typing all of this I'm thinking too much work & fogetaboutit :-) .

Yeah I mean I was thinking about just recording (off-screen) video with my iPad.

Also, if we do off-screen then we should blur out faces.

It could be cool to do a numerology + reaper workflow vid. But no time! no time!

I dunno about vids but here's a screenshot of one of my setups

oh god what a mess

spaghetti hell :-) , dunno if that editor allows it like in Max, but might be smarter design choice to divide your patch up in sub-patches each with its own function for better overview.

I remember an user who made a vid of him tweaking an Electribe (doing "IDM" patterns with 16th hi-hats and chorus/delay) which was very nice and helpful. Other ones would be welcomed as well :)

man! is this a custom Max MSP patch?

haha it's BLOK modular or rather BLOK fx (which I REALLY wish had multiple ins/outs), which the site is down now but I could send the .dlls to whomever I guess. It's the Buzz version though not the VST demo

and yeah I do use multiple instances but out of necessity because I hit the limit on the amount of blocks (hence all the spaghetti since a shitload of connections seems to 'cost' less processor-wise than a block and I haven't hit a limit on connections yet)

can't be arsed to learn something like max

argh why is there a time limit on edits

can't be arsed to learn something like max. Blok is my favorite of the free modular thingies that can be run within some other program as a plugin. otherwise I might mess with uh http://www.kvraudio.com/product/sync_modular_by_dr_sync this. I tried this http://cps.bonneville.nl/intro.php but it froze my computer and couldn't even try it out. Also I can't stand the plugins that try to look like hardware even if there's no limit on the amount of stuff you can rack up

or wait this was the one with no vst http://www.kvraudio.com/product/analog_box_by_andyware sync modular was either too slow or there was no effect version so was kinda useless to me

um here's a desc of BLOK http://www.kvraudio.com/product/blok_by_zephod

I dreamt my neighbors were walking their dog (pitbull) but also a deer for some reason?

man I also dreamt a whole comic book. Some sort of crime thingy with a dude being chased by the cops and weird film noir shit in jail

analog box is probably a cool way to get sounds to sample later but again can't be arsed

There are only a few simple videos up there so far, but here's my collection of music making guides. I intend to make a lot more next year, after the move, once I have a proper studio to make them in. There are so many different aspects of music making to cover, each interesting in a different way!
